Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the study

The heart of the vehicle is a complex and precise machinery where every manufacturer
invests more time creating unique pieces of work. Automotive engine pistons are most
frequently made from aluminum alloys, usually with high silicon content to improve stiffness
while reducing overall density, and may be cast or forged. Many diesel and high power
density engines require pistons of alloy cast iron such as nickel-containing grades, due to the
high temperatures encountered in the combustion chamber. (McCune and Weber, 2001)

And also, An engine or motor is a machine designed to convert one or more forms

of energy into mechanical energy as an available source.(Bahco, 2002)

Lastly, An engine is a power generating machine. It converts the potential energy of

the fuel into heat energy and then into rotary motion. An automotive engine that
produces power also runs on its own power. Overall, the manufacturers classify the engines
according to their varied designs, constructions, and applications. (CarBikeTechTeam,
2015)

Automotive tools have been designed to make automotive repairs, modifications and
servicing easy, making them essential for use when working on vehicles. Without the right
tools on hand, you will find it difficult to complete the tasks you need to perform without
errors or delays. Coupled with the right equipment and skills, automotive tools can help you
solve almost every issue that a vehicle might experience. Every automotive mechanic or
technician should have a reliable set of essential tools to service their cars or serve their
customers. (Norva tools, 2020)

The automotive tools include things like screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, wrenches,

and socket sets. Other standard tools that can be used to repair vehicles include a jack, jack
stands, funnel, multimeters, fuses, torque wrenches, breaker bars, socket adaptors, clamps,
and more.(Rex, 2019)
Tools are important to fix cars successfully, you need three primary ingredients:
knowledge, ability, and you guessed it tools. You can have all of the know-how and
capability in the world, but unless you have the proper tools and equipment on hand, you’re
not going to be very successful at working on cars. Even though professional mechanics have
massive tool collections with all of the bells and whistles, in the beginning, nearly everyone
starts with the basics.(Bevacqua, 2018)

The study of any literary work focused commonly on its meaning, message and other
external factors that a reader can absorb, understand and formulate that may affect the
formation and creation of a literary piece. What many people have missed or failed to
understand and appreciate is that, writing a literary piece is an art. A writer values writing as
an expression of his/her own artistry and creativity in producing a literary piece. Macario Tiu,
one prominent Davao Literary writer, has shown exemplary artistry and creativity in many of
his writings. What is ironic, however is, his works have not been given quality studies.
(Misagal and Palarca, 2014)

It is also the process of learning about something or teaching somebody about

something, so that you/they start to understand it. Associative memory is the ability to link
together components of stimuli.(McFadyen, 2020)

Previous evidence suggests that prior familiarization with study items affects the nature
of the association between stimuli. More specifically, novel stimuli are learned in a more
context-dependent fashion than stimuli that have been encountered previously without the
current context. In the current study, we first acquired behavioral data from 62 human
participants to conceptually replicate this effect. Participants were instructed to memorize
multiple object-scene pairs (study phase) and were then tested on their recognition memory
for the objects (test phase). Importantly, 1 day prior, participants had been familiarized with

Familiarizing- Knowledge or understanding of something.

CHAPTER 2
Review of Related Literature

A review of related literature and studies is the theories which the researchers use to
explain the existence of a research problem and use as a bases in analyzing relationship
between variables can be generated from reference books and of collecting, selecting and
reading books, journals, reports, abstract, and other reference materials. The Chapter begins
with the Introduction, Related Literature, Foreign Literature, Local Literature, Related
Studies, Foreign Studies, Local Studies and the Synthesis and Significance of the Study.
INTRODUCTION

2.1 Local Literature

The Philippines' automotive sector is relatively small in terms of manufacturing, size
(number of players) and value added share in production of , especially when compared to its
ASEAN neighbors such as Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. However, the government
recognizes the context of this sector and continues to encourage its expansion and improve its
competitiveness. The key policy of this sector is the Automobile Development Program,
which aims to give the automobile sector a comprehensive industrial policy and development
direction. While this law is sufficient to promote competitiveness and take advantage of the
tariff reduction scheme, it appears insufficient to support innovation in the automotive
industry. Low R&D spending and lackluster R&D indicators across Philippine industries also
suggest a lack of interest in innovation in the country. But a new example of innovation in the
Philippines is the electric jeep. [The jeep is a unique form of public transportation in the
Philippines]. But other than that, innovation hasn't been very lively, especially in his
automobile division.

2.2 Foreign Literature

According to Blackburn 2016 planning for the protection of critical infrastructure has
become a necessitous for local governments in Canada. The complexity of assessment tools
and need for technical expertise can be a hindrance to communities attempting to perform
these analyses. This process makes use of plain language terminology and step by step
instructions to guide lay users. Despite advances in materials testing and characterization,
there remains a void in properly assessing loading, geometry, and material design property
variability. Application of probabilistic methods offers an effective and useful approach to
modeling this variability while also providing a means by which assess random variable
sensitivity and risk assessment.( Copp, Et.al., 2022). According to Castillo 2019 he examine
the absence of instructional materials and equipment is seen as a factor in achieving the
institution's aim of developing automotive skills among its learners. The mean percentage
score (MPS) in technical Vocational Livelihood(TVL subject of Grade 11 students in
Pagsanjan stand alone senior high school is low.

CHAPTER 3
Research Design and Methodology
This research describes the methods and procedure that the research will employ in the
conduct of the study. This section consists of the research design, research locale, sampling
technique, research instrument, Data gathering procedure and statistical treatment of the data.
RESEARCH DESIGN
The study is qualitative in nature. It aims to gather data and in-depth insights to better
understand the problem, concepts, and/or opinions, where it can generate into new ideas.
The study will be conducted in a descriptive manner. The study contains a descriptive
account of the collected data from the questionnaires. This research method is the most

engine in automotive servicing :an assessment. Through this method, the researchers were
able to gather data used to present the study results, test the hypothesis, and answer the
research problem.
The study is conducted in a descriptive manner to find out . The study contains a
descriptive account of the collected data from the questionnaires.
SAMPLING TECHNIQUE
The method that the researchers utilize in the process of finding suitable respondents for the
research, the researchers will made use of purposive sampling. Purposive sampling is also
known as subjective, judgmental, or selective sampling. (Crossman, 2020). A purposive
sample is a non-probability sample chosen based on a population's characteristics and the
study's objective. Moreover, regarding the instrument used for the data gathering, the
researchers utilized closed-ended questionnaires. For designing the survey questionnaires,
researcher use likert scale.

Research locale
This study was conducted at Matatalaib High School (Grade 12 students). The researchers
find the locale its appropriateness of the said study. Also, it was referred by the school to
conduct the study in that place for the safety of researchers.

Research respondents.
The respondents of this research are 50 students composed of male and female of Grade 12
students from different sections. This research use simple random sampling is a subset of
individual chosen from a larger set. Each individual is chosen randomly and entirely by
chance, such that each individual has the same probability of being chosen at any stage
during the sampling process (starnes, et. al., 2008).

Research Instrument

The instrument used in this study was the survey questionnaires guide by the researcher that
involves the statement of the problem. The Survey questionnaires will conduct through
personally giving the form with the respondents. The survey used is close ended questions.

Data Gathering Procedure

A permission to conduct the study was first consulted from the researchers' adviser.
Afterwards the timeline of activities was formulated by the researcher, the researchers were
able to search for the possible respondents from the grade 12 students of Matatalaib High
school. The letters were distributed to the respondents were asked to the available time of the
Respondents for the survey. Then, The Responses of the participants will remain
Confidential. Afterwards, the researcher will analyze and tabulate the data.
Statistical treatment
On this study, the researchers will use Pearson’s R equation.
