Grading for courses

QUIZZES IN CENTRES: 16 Oct 2022 &


20 Nov 2022: 9am to 12 noon  OR 2pm-
6pm

END TERM EXAM: 11 Dec 2022: 9am-


12 noon & 2pm - 5pm
Course Participation Marks  are for encouraging and
incentivising the students to participate more in the
activities of the course.
These marks will be added for the students who pass the
course and will only impact the course grade, and not the
pass criteria. Criteria for course participation marks:

1. Participation in the mock tests that are released


as part of the courses - 5 marks
In most courses, mock tests are released before every
quiz and the final exam.
And in some courses we plan to release weekly and
biweekly mock tests too (coding based or otherwise).
Average of scores obtained in the mock tests will be
prorated to 5 marks and added to the Total Course Score
T.
Schedule of mock tests will be made available on course
calendar, in the first announcement posted in the course
and reminders will also be sent to students about the
same through email and whatsapp.

Foundation level:
Maths 1, Maths 2, Statistics 1, Statistics 2: Mock tests in
alternate weeks
Introduction to Python: Mock PE 3 times every week, with
new problems in each mock

Diploma level: Programming


The schedule for the mock tests in these courses will be
announced in the course calendar.
The average of the marks in all the mock tests will be
prorated to 5 bonus marks.

2. Based on practice assignments - 5 marks


Marks will be applicable based on availability of
practice assignments in the course. It can vary from
course to course.
There will be a separate unit called “Course
participation Marks”.
Practice Assignments will be open till one day prior
to the relevant quiz (i.e. Week 1-4, Quiz1, Week 5-
8, Quiz2, Week 9-12,End term exam).
The assignments will be closed on the day of the
quiz1/quiz2/ET exam date and marks taken.
For 12 weeks course:
If the average of the marks obtained in all
the practice assignments (including
programming) + mock test for weeks 1-4 >=
40/100, students will get 1.5 marks.

We will be looking at active engagement with
Discourse in a term and provide badges for
participation.
Badges will be given based on the number of hours
a student spends on Discourse. A student is
expected to spend a minimum of 1 hour per week
per course in Discourse reading posts.
Student will get the following marks:
Read time of upto 4 hours per course in a
term: Badge 1
Read time of upto 8 hours per course in a
term: Badge 2
Read time of upto 12 hours per course or
more: Badge 3
