RULES & REGULATIONS

Rules :- FIDE rules in force shall apply.


System of Play: -The Tournament shall be conducted Fide Swiss System.

Number of Rounds: -NINE

Time Control: -30 minutes each + 30 seconds increment per move from Move No. 1

Tie-break: - 1)Buchholz Cut 1, 2)Buchholz 3)Sonneborn Berger, 4)Direct Encounter,5) number


of wins (forfeit included) and 5)Greater number of wins by black tie-break rules will be applied.
In case of tie, prizes will not be shared.

AICF Player Registration:- AICF player registration is compulsory for all players. AICF Player
Registration fee is Rs.250/- for the year 2022-2023. AICF player registrations will be accepted
only through online. Players / Arbiters registration should be done well before the start of event
(Championship). For renewing AICF registration of existing players, please click http://prs.aicf.in/
and click extend membership.

For (New) Fresh AICF registration please click http://prs.aicf.in/new-register/

For fresh AICF registration, players are requested to keep their scanned passport size
photograph and birth certificate and a valid email address (unique) not used by any other person/
player for AICF, ready before the registration process. Note: Only passport size (less than 1 MB)
photographs in jpeg format should be uploaded.

Protests:- Protests if any, against the decision of the Chief Arbiter shall be made in writing with
protest fee of Rs.500/- within 15 minutes of the occurrence of the incident to the appeals
committee. The protest fee will be refunded if the appeal is upheld.

Appeals Committee:-Before the commencement of the Tournament, appeals committee will be


formed. The appeals committee decisions will be final and binding on all players concerned.

Withdrawal:- A player may withdraw at any stage of the event, after informing the chief arbiter
in writing.

Mobiles/Wrist watches:- Players not allowed to bring Mobile phones or any type of Electronic
items inside the Tournament hall. AICF has banned the wrist watches while playing in FIDE
Rated events. Players are instructed not to wear wrist watches while playing.

PROFILE OF THE INSTITUTION
The Guru Nanak College, in a lush green 25-acre campus cradled between the Raj Bhavan and the campus
of the IIT, Madras on the Guru Nanak Salai, is located in Velachery, South Chennai – the gateway to the IT
expressway of Tamil Nadu.

GNC was established in 1971 to commemorate the 500th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji by the Guru
Nanak Educational Society (GNES), with (Late) Lt. Col. G.S. Gill as the founder President.

GNC was started as a men’s institution with 450 students with Pre-University and 3 undergraduate programs.
Today on the golden jubilee year, it has grown into a full-fledged, Co-educational Research Institution with
7300 students 26 Under graduate programs, 9 Post Graduate Programs and 8 PhD programs.

The College is autonomous since 2015 and is affiliated to the University of Madras. It is recognized by the
Govt. of Tamil Nadu, and the University Grants Commission. The College functions in two Shifts - Shift I govt.
aided and Shift II Self- financed. College is Accredited by NAAC at ‘A++’ Grade with 3.68 CGPA in the third
cycle. The professional programs MBA and MCA are approved by AICTE. The programs are also ISO
9001:2015 certified.

Langar: Free Healthy food (Langar) is provided to 700 students daily working day through the community
kitchen attached to the Gurudwara on the campus.

Scholarships & Incentives: Apart from Sports uniforms and daily allowances, scholarships are also provided
to the sports students and Cash incentives to students who excel in their respective field.

Sports Development / Physical education for development of Sports, the College has appointed coaches for
cricket, volleyball, basketball and hockey. Playgrounds / Courts (8 nos.) for all the sports and games are
marked and well maintained. The highlight is a top-class cricket ground and pavilion which is maintained by
The India Cements Ltd.
The foundation stone for Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sports Academy and the Saragarhi Shooting Range was laid
by our Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M. K Stalin. The Sports Academy will have a rifle shooting
range and squash courts and courts for other major indoor games. Women’s Cricket are given a boost with
the support of the HCL Foundation Program under a MOU signed by the College

The College has made immense contribution in the field of sports at the National and International level. To
mention a few:
Abhay Singh : International Squash player representing Indian Squash Team. First Indian to win British U 23
Championship, current Asian Squash Champion….
Sri Karthik Sabari Raj Ravi Shankar : Young Shooter, Won the National, Asian and World shooting
championship in Junior Category
Harsimar Singh Rattha : Won many Gold medals at the National level and Honored by Hon’ble Chief Minister
of Tamilnadu for his achievements. Apart from this Akilandeswari ( Rowing ), Vinayak ( Swimming ),
Sarabeshwar ( Athlete ) podium finishers at the National level. Sharukh khan, Vijay Shankar, Aparajith and
Inderajith are the heros of IPL cricket.
