Lab 4 (Filter) BEEL 1125

This document provides instructions for a lab experiment using Multisim software to simulate different types of active filters, including low pass, high pass, and bandpass filters. Students are asked to construct circuits based on figures provided, simulate the circuits, observe output waveforms on an oscilloscope and Bode plots, and take screenshots of the results to include in a lab report. The objectives are to study different filter circuit types and analyze their frequency response characteristics.

ACTIVE FILTER [MULTISIM SIMULATION]

Objective:
To study the types of filter circuits

Equipment:
Multisim Software

1.1 Low Pass Filter

1. Using Multisim software, construct a circuit as shown in Figure 1.1 below.

Figure 1.1
3. For Function Generator use 100 Hz and 1 Vp Amplitude setting. Use the sine wave
setting as well.
4. Simulate the circuit, observe the output waveform from the oscilloscope.
5. For Bode Plot setting use Magnetic Mode.
6. The Horizontal setting use Log
F = 100 Mhz and I = 100 Hz
7. The vertical setting use Log
F = 20 dB and I = -50 dB
8. In Control select "Reverse" and screen shot the out result and put in your report.
9. Using Multisim software, construct a circuit as shown in Figure 1.2 below.

Figure 1.2

10. Simulate the circuit, observe the output waveform from the oscilloscope.

11. For Bode Plot setting use Magnetic Mode.

12. The Horizontal setting use Log

F = 100 Mhz and I = 100 Hz

13. The vertical setting use Log

F = 20 dB and I = -50 dB

14. In Control select "Reverse" and screen shot the out result and put in your report.
Compare your output results and give your comments.
2.1 High Pass Filter

1. Using Multisim software, construct a circuit as shown in Figure 2.1 below.

Figure 2.1

2. For Function Generator use 100 Hz and 1 Vp Amplitude setting. Use the sine wave setting as
well.

3. Simulate the circuit, observe the output waveform from the oscilloscope.

4. For Bode Plot setting use Magnetic Mode.

5. The Horizontal setting use Log

F = 500 kHz and I = 100 Hz

6. The vertical setting use Log

F = 10 dB and I = -50 dB

7. In Control select "Reverse" and screen shot the out result and put in your report.
8. Using Multisim software, construct a circuit as shown in Figure 2.2 below.

9. Simulate the circuit, observe the output waveform from the Bode Plotter

10. For Bode Plot setting use Magnetic Mode.

11. The Horizontal setting use Log

F = 100 Mhz and I = 100 Hz

12. The vertical setting use Log

F = 20 dB and I = -50 dB

13. In Control select "Reverse" and screen shot the out result and put in your report.
Compare your output results and give your comments.
3.1 Bandpass Filter

1. Using Multisim software, construct a circuit as shown in Figure 3.1 below
