Battle of Mu‟tah
629 CE – 8 H – 61 years
The envoy of the Prophet PBUH sent to the
ruler of Busra in al-Sham (Syria) was killed.
This, as well as the constant persecution of the
Muslims in Busra by Arabs who have the
protection of the Romans, prompted the
Battle of Mu’tah.
The 3000 troops were led by Zaid ibn Harith
RA until he is martyred, then Ja’far ibn Abi
Talib RA, then Abdullah ibn Rawaha RA against
an army of 100,00 supported by another
100,00 Roman army making the ratio 1:66
Finally, Khalid ibn al-Waleed RA takes
command and uses battle tactics that cause
the Byzantines to withdraw.
The Prophet PBUH gave Khalid bin Waleed RA
the title of Sword of Allah
This battle helps to establish the Muslim
military's might to the nations around it.
