C1 Advanced 4, Test 1, Question 1 - Essay
No matter how old we are, whether we are studying, working or even both, everyone has some
free time at some point. The case though, is to use it effectively, so that not only we, but also
others can benefit from it. In my view, more effective in that case is taking up healthy activities,
rather than contributing to community projects.
The most important advantage is that by living a healthy lifestile you may contribute to saving
our planet earth. For example you can leave your car in the garage and ride a bike. Doing
that, you are not only improving your stamina but also reducing the emition of carbon dioxide.
Another way is to eat healthier, because on account of that, you feel better and stronger and
you might feel more motivated to help others. Furthermore, by taking up a healthy lifestyle,
you may encourage other people to do the same thing, thus there is a greater possibility of a
healthier society and less polluted environment.
On the other hand, participating in a community project has its advantages as well. Some
people are poorer than others or experienced a tragedy from which they are not able to
recover or do not have the resources to do so. By enrolling a community project you might
help them for instance gain education or restore a ruined house. What is more, you are not
only doing something for others but also fluorish yourself.
All in all, I strongly believe that taking up healthy activities is more effective as by doing so
you are improving your health and thus, you have more strength and motivition to contribute
to society.
