BIBLE STORY
Bible Story telling via Flannel Board (BL page 91) Ruth showed goodness to her mother-in-law, Naomi. Ruth chose to show goodness and kindness to her especially during a difficult time.
SMALL GROUP ACTIVITY MATERIAL: Heart pillow Show the children the heart pillow. Kids, let's pretend that this pretty heart pillow is our heart when our heart is full of good things, it is also easy for us to give away goodness OR do good things to others. Kids let us be careful to put only good things in our heart How do we do that? By reading the word of God .. we can ask mommy or daddy to help read the Bible everyday so that we are sure that good things grow and grow inside our hearts. When we are so full of good things inside our heart, people will certainly see it in us. Hooray!!
In our bible story today, we met 2 women the older woman was Naomi and the younger woman was named Ruth. Naomi was the mother-in-law of Ruth the son of Naomi died (He was the husband of Ruth) and even when Ruth had the chance to go back to her family and her land, she chose to stay with Naomi and took care of her. Was Ruth kind to Naomi? Yes she was! Ruth did not just think of what was easy and convenient for her. She loved Naomi and wanted to take care of her Ruth even gathered grains from the fields to make sure that she and Naomi would have food to eat Ruth showed Naomi goodness. Kids, remember that God is pleased when we are are good to others. God will help us to do this when we ask for his help to be able to do this.
WHAT YOU WILL PRAY Dear Lord Thank you for loving me. Please help me to be kind to others so I can tell them about you Lord. We pray this in Jesus name, Amen.
TEACHER'S DEVOTION About the Lord's goodness and mercy Psalms 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. In the face of many obstacles, in the deepest part of the darkest valleys of our life, we can exclaim the Lord's goodness and mercy are upon us. Not only can we exclaim the Light of His love is in our darkest moments, but we can also exclaim His goodness and love will never leave us or fail us. As we live for Him and not for ourselves, His goodness in us follows who we are and what we do. Because of God's goodness, in the middle of the worst times, the good times roll. In the shadow of death, the Father lifts us up by the power of His love into our eternal life. Yes, we experience the goodness of God. We have His joy in us we cannot express. Every day, for the rest of our life, we have the Lord's mercy and forgiveness from His love. Instead of holding our wrongs and transgressions against us, Christ does not see our wrongs because we have turned away from them. We have accepted Him into our heart. In our hearts, we will have goodness and mercy all the days of our life.
