Reflection no.7: Urban Agriculture

Urban farming could aid in addressing a city's social, economic, and environmental
problems. By decreasing heat during the summer season and retaining water during heavy rains,
plants can enhance the Earth's climate and lower the risk of flooding. Urban parks and gardens
can serve as a haven for birds and other beneficial insects, preserving the urban biodiversity.
Cities produce a lot of organic garbage, such as leftovers from recent meals. Compost made from
organic waste can be used in urban gardens. Additionally, it is possible to gather used coffee
grounds from pubs and restaurants, which are excellent for mushroom cultivation. When city
dwellers engage in urban gardening, their health frequently becomes better. These urban dwellers
typically consume a wider variety of foods, including more nutrient-dense fruits and vegetables.
People feel more a part of the community when they participate in urban gardening. Residents
gain from getting to know their neighbors and may form bonds with strangers. Food security refers
to the state of having enough inexpensive, wholesome food available to all members of the
population. Urban agriculture may have a significant impact on this state. When everyone has
access to enough food to meet their needs, food security is assured. Urban gardening might be
able to meet the need for fresh produce in a city.

I’ve realized that urban agriculture offers community access to nutritious, reasonably
priced, fresh vegetables and gives people the chance to learn about growing their own food. This
action promotes community awareness of the origins of food, its production methods, and its
growers. The foundation of our society is agriculture. In its whole, farming has been an art of

raising livestock and developing land to satisfy the planet's hunger for all living creatures. An
endeavor or action that requires both physical strength and contemporary technology for higher
cultivation has a negative impact on the existence of living things. Additionally, farming helps
maintain the balance of environmental factors. Industrial farming may have a slight profit-oriented
bias, yet it is necessary to support a growing population. By consuming fresh produce and doing
the appropriate physical effort, it also aids in the upkeep of a healthy physique for an individual.
Therefore, we must adore farmers and see their labor as highly deserving of praise.
