Part 1: Social Interaction (3’)

Let’s talk about Family

1.Can you tell me about your family?

Well, there are 5 members in my family, including my parents, my older brother, my older sister and me.
Despite some minor conflicts, I must say we are a close-knit family who get on well with each other most
of the time.

2. Where do your family live?

Well, my family lives in Bac Ninh province, which is about 60km far from the centre of HN capital. Bac
Ninh is famous for lots of pagodas and temples such as Phật Tích pagoda and Bà Chúa Kho temple as
well as festivals like Lim festival.

Specialities:

People: hospitable

3. Who are you close to in your family?

I guess I get on well with my brother, who is 6 years younger than me because he always lends me a(n)
sympathetic ear and understands me most. He also gives me useful advice when I have problems. We
are like best friends.

Let’s talk about Job

1. Do you work or study?

+Actually, I am a university student, my major is Human Resource Management. This summer, I plan to
look for a part-time job to gain more work experience as well as earn some money to support my
parents.

+Actually, I am a university student, my major is Human Resource Management. At the moment, I am

also working part-time as a salesman at a fashion store.

2. Why do you choose that job?/that study?

The reason why I choose the major Human Resource Management is that I dream to become a manager
in the future, so I need to understand the psychology as well as abilities of employees.

I think there are many reasons why I choose that job. Firstly, it helps me improve communication skills
because I meet lots of customers every day. Secondly, it is a well-paid job and I can earn a high salary to
pay my tuition fee. Thirdly, I can gain valuable work experience for my future job. Finally, I also gain
more fashion knowledge.

3. Do you think you will change your job/ study?

No, I feel satisfied with the major I chose and think it is suitable for me. However, in the near future, I
am going to study another major, for example, finance.

Yes, of course, it is just a part-time job. After I graduate from university, I will apply for a stable job.
Part 2: Solution Discussion (4’)
Situation: Your family is discussing how your 7th grade brother is going to spend his summer
holiday. There are three options: joining a summer camp, doing military training, or staying with
his grandparents in the countryside.
Which do you think is the best choice?

The situation is that my….

Well, in my opinion, I think among the three options, staying with grandparents in the
countryside would be the best choice for some reasons. Firstly, it will be the only time he
stays away from social media, TV, video games, which is good for his eyesight. Secondly, it is a
chance for him to experience new things that can’t be seen in the city such as buffaloes, cows,
pigs and chicken, so on. In addition, he will see how hard the farmers there work to earn a
living, so he will know more about the value of labour and money. Fourthly, the fresh air in the
countryside helps improve his health. Lastly, it is a time when he can improve relationship and
enhance the bonds with grandparents.
Joining summer camp is a good idea because it helps him improve communication skills, team
work skills and English language skills. However, it costs a large amount of money and my
family can not afford it.
Doing military training is also great because it helps him improve discipline. He will have to
do everything on time but like summer camp, it is too expensive for my family to afford.
In conclusion, for the above-mentioned reasons, I believe sending my brother to countryside
to live with grandparent on his summer vacation is the best choice.
