GRADING SYSTEM
The academic performance of ISCC students are evaluated and graded at the end of each term
in accordance with the institution’s prescribed grading system. ISCC adopts the following grading
system with following percentage equivalents and descriptions. The grading system uses number
grades in multiples of 0.25 starting from 1.0 to 5.0, where 1.0 is the highest,3.0 as the lowest passing
grade, and 5.0 as the failing grade.

Grade Point % Equivalent Description

1.0 98 – 100 Excellent
1.25 95 – 97
1.50 92 – 94 Very Good
1.75 89 – 91
2.00 86 – 88 Good
2.25 83 – 85
2.50 80 – 82 Satisfactory
2.75 77 – 79
3.0 75 – 76 Passed
5.0 Below 75 Failed

BASES OF GRADES

1. The Final Grade shall be computed using the following:

Midterm Period Grade = 50%
Final Period Grade = 50%
Final Grade = sum of both the Midterm and Final Grade

2. Each grading period is composed of the following:

Class Standing = 60%
Major Exam = 40%

3. A final grade with a percentage equivalent that is equal or in excess of .5 shall be

automatically rounded off to the nearest whole number. A final grade with a percentage
equivalent that is lower than .5 shall be automatically rounded off to the nearest whole
number. After rounding off to the nearest whole number, the grade point is determined
Example: 86.5 rounded off to 87, 87 is equivalent to 2.0
85.4 rounded off to 85, 85 is equivalent to 2.25

COMPUTATION OF THE GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA)

The computation of the GPA shall be as follows:
1. Multiply the credit units for each course by the grade earned to compute for the credit point
per course.
2. Add the credit points per course to determine the total
3. Compute for the GPA by dividing the total number of credit points by the total number of
credit units. The GPA should be computed to two (2) decimal places
4. NSTP grades shall not be included in the computation of the GPA.
