KIBUNGSOD CS - Narrative Report 4th Quarter

Kibungsod Central School in Misamis Oriental, Philippines participated in the 4th Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on November 10, 2022. The school discussed disaster preparedness and what to do during an earthquake. Teachers and students enacted earthquake scenarios like dropping, covering, and holding on. Some participants could not join due to a lack of phones or internet. Nearly 500 students and 19 teachers participated in the drill by watching an instructional video. The drill was conducted successfully while following health protocols, and no issues occurred.

NARRATIVE REPORT ON 4th QUARTER NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS


EARTHQUAKE DRILL (NSED)
Disaster preparedness refers to the preventive measures taken to reduce the severity of a disaster’s
effects. The goal of disaster preparedness is to lessen the impact of disasters on vulnerable populations, to
ready an organization for an influx of activity, and to design a coordinated plan that reduces the waste of
resources, time, and efforts. Disaster preparedness has the potential, to save the maximum number of lives
and property during earthquake, and it aims to return the affected populations to normalcy as quickly as
possible.
Pursuant to OUA MEMO 00-0222-0171, entitled, Reiteration of Participation of the 2022 4 th Quarter
National simultaneous earthquake Drill Activities, KIBUNGSOD CENTRAL SCHOOL, respond to the call
for the 4th NSED CEREMONIAL PRESSING OF THE BUTTON on NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS
EARTHQUAKE DRILL 2022 on November 10, 2022.
The activity includes the discussion of disaster preparedness, the things we should do, and where to
go during earthquake, the re-enactment of some scenario during earthquake like DROP, COVER and HOLD.
Also we give emphasis on always prepare a “Ready to Go bag” in anytime because nobody knows when,
disaster hits you. Some teachers, parents and pupils did not participate due to lack of mobile phones and
internet connections. NSED exercises requiring physical interaction, particularly evacuation drills were
conducted while adhering to physical distancing and compliance of health protocols. There were 490 pupils
and 19 Teaching personnel participated in the drill through watching the National defense video on NSED 4 th
Ceremonial Pressing of button.
In conclusion, when any disaster strikes, whether it be an earthquake, flood, domestic terrorism,
landslide and fire. Effective disaster preparedness helps alleviate some of the chaos brought by the
unexpected crisis. It is critical to have an emergency plan in place, and for all family members to understand
their role within the plan. Disaster plans should be revisited regularly to ensure complete understanding. If
you follow your disaster plan, it is possible for you and your family to secure safety.
The conduct of 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill was successfully done and no
untoward incident happen.
