c7 Lesson Exemplar Gr.7

The lesson plan aims to teach students how movements along faults generate earthquakes over 180 minutes. Students will be divided into groups to perform hands-on activities demonstrating fault movement. They will watch a video on faults and explain how the movements cause earthquakes. To evaluate their understanding, students will answer essay questions about how earthquakes occur and why not all fault movements produce quakes. They will also research the West Valley Fault and associated hazards. The goal is for students to understand fault movement and earthquake generation.
