Week 13 Assignment 7
Week 13 Assignment 7
Presentation Assignment
Objective:
This assignment is designed to help you gain experience and develop expertise in presenting
information visually, a crucial skill in today’s workplace. Sooner or later most of you will need
to organize, prepare and deliver a presentation to some sort of audience: a sales presentation
to potential customers, a demonstration or an information session to colleagues, or a proposal
to management.
No matter the audience or the topic, successful presentations are not accidents; they happen
because people learn and practice a few essential principles. This is your chance to learn and
practice those principles before you enter the workplace.
Instructions:
Present the results of your recommendation report orally, using a narrated PowerPoint slide
show. Images and data should be presented visually, so that the audience can quickly and
easily understand them. Do not read the content of your slides. Use your slides as a guide
and give the presentation content as you would for a live audience. For those working with
partners, divide the work fairly.
Research Sources/Systems:
1. Refer to your text, Chapter 14. It covers both public speaking and PowerPoint.
2. View the sample PowerPoint narration in the Week 13-14 file.
Requirements:
Your presentation must:
show a clear three-part structure (Introduction, Body, Conclusion)
be enhanced by a PowerPoint slide show of at least 8 slides, not including a reference
page which you do not need anyway. The standard length for a presentation on a report of
this type is 3-5 minutes.
include a word processed, point form, one-page outline (not the text of your presentation),
which will count as part of your mark for the presentation – see page 384 (6th edition page
379), figure 14.3 of the text for an example.
Your outline must be uploaded by 9 a.m. Tuesday to the Week 14 folder in the Discussion
Board with your narrated PowerPoint completed on Flip. If you cannot get Flip to work, you
will present in class.
