Job Description of Process Engineer
JOB TITLE PROCESS ENGINEER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides process engineering services for surface facilities projects related to oil and gas production, pressure maintenance, transport and export. Prepares simulation models of current facilities, new modifications or projects, & future facilities. Ensures application of sound process engineering principles and practices to assigned design and development projects. Includes carrying out feasibility studies, preparing conceptual design, for new facilities and/or modifications for existing ones. Executes studies and engineering designs to develop Scopes of Work (SOW) for tender. Prepares the Basis for Design (BFD), selects appropriate technology, philosophies, essential standards, facility safeguarding, safety and environmental and ensures integration to existing facilities, constructability, operability and lifecycle cost. Reviews tenders submitted by vendor/ consultant/ contractor and comments on technical aspects of their proposals as well as cost, safety, considerations and scheduling of the proposed works. Reviews and approves conceptual designs, philosophies and drawings, submitted by vendor/ consultant/ contractor for projects. Reviews and approves detailed designs and documentation related to Material submittals, Procurement, Fabrication, Testing, Installation and Commissioning activities of projects. Reviews and verifies proposed technical deviations submitted by vendor/ consultant/ contractor against approved International codes, standards & Company specifications. Provides technical support to fields and terminal operating units in identifying and rectifying process related problems. Participates in identification, definition, evaluation and validation of Plant Modification requests. Participates as a functional member of design review, HAZOP, HAZID, & SIL review teams. Ensures that process modifications are implemented in strict compliance with Safety rules, Company specifications and International Standards. Contributes to the updating of in-house discipline Engineering Standards, & Specifications. Carries out or participates in trouble shooting, identifying respective causes of problems and recommending changes or alterations of operating parameters in order to avoid reoccurrence of problems. Carries out conceptual and process engineering design work for projects related to modifications, improvements, de bottlenecking and pollution control, as per international code and standards, Company specifications. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education Graduate Degree in Chemical Engineering discipline from a recognized University. Experience Minimum 12 years experience in process design & engineering within the oil & gas industry. Skills Excellent communication and written skills in English. Arabic language is an asset. Core design experience in UP-STREAM. Core experience in CREATING AND DEVELOPING process designs. Computer Skill: Familiar with Microsoft Office software. Good knowledge of chemical engineering simulation softwares such as: PROII, PIPEPHASE, HYSYS, etc...
