DLL Identifying Percentiles Using T - Tables

The daily learning log outlines a statistics and probability lesson on identifying percentiles using the t-table. The objective is to define percentile, differentiate between percentile and percentage, and identify percentiles using the t-table. The lesson introduces the topic, reviews prerequisite concepts of t-distributions, and includes practice tasks and assessment questions involving finding specific percentiles from t-tables with different degrees of freedom and sample sizes.

Content: Identifying Percentiles Using the t-Table

Learning SLM Grade 11

Resources:

Procedure: Introductory Concept

For establishing the purpose and presenting terms and the concepts of the
percentiles.
Review
To revisit previous learned lessons and concepts about t- distribution which
is prerequisite in identifying the percentiles using t-table.
Activities
Practice Task 1:
Find the 85th percentile of a t-distribution with 23 degrees of freedom.

Practice Task 2:
Find the 5th percentile of a t-distribution with sample size of 15.

Practice Task 3:
Find the area to the right of t=0.865 under the t-distribution with 16 degrees
of freedom. Draw the t-distribution and indicate the corresponding percentile.

Practice Tasks 4:
Find the area to the left of t=3.143 under the t-distribution with a sample
size of 7. Draw the t-distribution and indicate the corresponding percentile.

Assessment (4-item test)

To assess the student’s learning about identifying percentiles using the t-
table.
