Purpose:
PART 1: READING PROGRAM PROPOSAL (50%)
I. You are an ESL teacher specialised in the teaching of reading. You have been assigned
by your school to prepare a proposal on a reading program for Form 1 students entitled
‘Reading is Fun’. This program should be conducted over a one-week period.

II. Your proposal should comprise all the following details:


a. Introduction to the program (background) and its particulars (such as dates, time
and venue, number of teachers and students involved)
b. Rationales for conducting the program
c. Learning outcomes (maximum 4)
d. Fun reading activities* (minimum 3)
e. Rationales and justifications for proposing each of the activities*
f. Strategies for enhancing students’ reading skills* (minimum 3)
g. Choice of resources / materials for the program
h. Strategies to attract students to participate in all the activities
i. Budget for the program
j. Expected support from the school administration
k. Conclusion
l. Reference list
