Learning Episode3
1. Learn about the definition of Action Research and how it is used in education.
2. Identify the various Action Research steps.
3. Learn about the essential characteristics of an action research.
4. Learn about the various models and how to carry out action research
Since the 3 models are all for action research, what are the common elements of the
three?
Based on what I've seen in the three Action Research models, they share elements. They share
a number of characteristics that are similar to one another. They additionally have a cycle that
incorporates components like noticing, reflecting, arranging, acting, assessing, and altering.
Action researchers frequently collect data in one of the above ways. To sum up, activity
research scrutinizes thoughts as they are created and gives continuous criticism on what works
and how it functions.
What have you understood about the concept of Action Research and how will these be
utilized in your practice?
The improvement of educational practice is the goal of the action research process. Some of its
methods include taking action, evaluating it, and considering it. It is a method for gathering
evidence for procedure modifications. Plans for action research are also created, put into action,
changed, and put into action again, allowing for a never-ending cycle of reflection and
improvement. In addition, these will be utilized in my teaching practice to implement all of these
strategies.
Reflect
As a future teacher, is conducting an Action Research worth doing?
As a potential educator, I can unambiguously affirm the value of action research.
Why? This is because teachers can better themselves by reflecting on their own work through
action research. It is also advantageous for me because I am already on my way there, and it is
essential for me to be aware of the working environment. Additionally, teachers will benefit from
action research's assistance in fostering a more stimulating and dynamic learning and teaching
environment. In addition, it will help teachers and myself discover what works and what doesn't.
How can AR be useful for every classroom teacher?
In a secure setting, teachers can experiment with practice, learn about what others are doing in
the field, and reflect on what they want to improve. Teachers who engage in classroom-based
research will, as a result, gain knowledge of how to enhance teaching and learning. Additionally,
teachers can become community leaders through action research. They might also be able to
demonstrate in their classroom how to be a reflective teacher or practitioner. They can also
encourage their coworkers to conduct action research for their classes and share their
newfound knowledge with them.
OBSERVE
How can we encourage group work and collaboration during a discussion?
How can we get students to take an active role in the discussion?
How can we make it easier for students to participate in a hands-on activity?
REFLECT
By delegating them a task to which each member is expected to contribute and work together
with the others in their group.
By asking the students what they thought about the subject.
Students can master their experimenting skills by applying what they have learned in the lesson
through experimentation.
PLAN
Some abilities necessitate hands-on practice. We need to keep in mind how important it is to
learn the skills we need. We cannot simply make the assumption that teaching students the
theory and concept will lead to their acquisition of the skills. Keep in mind that most students
learn best when they do the task themselves or through hands-on experience.
