Robotics Narrative Report

1) An orientation and workshop on robotics was held for teacher participants in Siquijor to introduce them to the basics of robotics and intelligent systems applications as the field is new to the area and schools lack equipment and teacher expertise. 2) Teachers learned about robot navigation, sensing, and perception through hands-on sessions operating robots facilitated by experts. 3) While robotics hasn't been introduced in all schools yet, the division hopes this seminar will foster more interest in robotics and help acquire equipment to expand robotics programs in schools.

NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE ONSITE ORIENTATION AND WORKSHOP ON ROBOTICS

Robotics is a fairly new field of study in the Schools Division of Siquijor. This is partly
because of the unavailability of robotics equipment and the technical know-how of teachers
in the island that contributed to this scenario.

Thus, to solve this issue, an Onsite Orientation and Workshop on Robotics was held
on
April 29-30, 2022 at The Infinity Sands Resort, Maite, San Juan, Siquijor. Teacher participants
were introduced on the basics of robotics and intelligent systems and systems applications,
mobile sensor networks, robot navigation, sensing and perception.

The teachers enjoyed the sessions on the actual manipulation of robots which were
facilitated by Ms. Lanilei Bautista and Mr. Angel Arthur Doble of Siquijor Provincial Science
High School. Furthermore, they delightedly asked questions about the technicalities of
robotics and programming robots as well as on the real-life applications of robots.

Although robotics hasn’t been introduced to all schools in the division, we hoped that
through this seminar we will be able to foster the love of robotics, and find ways to acquire
robotics equipment to our schools.

Learning robotics was tough and grueling, but with the help of our dear facilitators,
we were able to welcome the science of robotics with ease and peace of mind. And we hope
that this will not be the last seminar that DepEd Siquijor will plan for the field of robotics.
