UPON hearing the counsel the Court made the following


O R D E R

IA No 88228/2019 In TC (Civil) No 27/2017

1 The relief which has been sought in the Interlocutory Application is in the
following terms:

“a) That this Hon 'ble Court passes orders and directs Union
of India along with National Monuments Authority (NMA)
to declare Ram-Setu as a National Monument and of
National Importance.

b) That this Hon'ble Court passes orders and directs Union of


India to engage Geological Survey of India& Archeological
Survey of India to conduct a detailed-survey in respect to
Ram-Setu as an Ancient Monument of National
Importance.

c) That this Hon 'ble Court passes orders and directs Union
of India with respect to Section 16 of the act to protect

the said Ancient Monument of National Importance as a


place of worship from any misuse, pollution or
desecration.”

2 We have heard Dr Subramanian Swamy, who appears in person and Mr


Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General of India for the Union of India.

3 The Solicitor General states that the process is currently under way in the
Ministry of Culture, but if the petitioner would so desire, he may also submit
any additional material or communication as he may wish within a period of
two weeks.

4 The Court may be apprised of the decision taken.

5 The Interlocutory Application is disposed of at this stage, with liberty to the


applicant to seek recourse to his remedies if the grievance will subsists.
