the built environment, urban life, and the global economy. In this book, Colic-
Peisker examines the growth and development of global cities, including how they
are connected to other cities, how their economies are intertwined, and what the
implications are for the surrounding environment. She looks at the history of
global cities, their emergence and growth, and their current status. She also
explores the effects of globalization on these cities and how they are reshaping
the way that people live and work. Finally, she examines the implications of the
global city for urban planning and development, and discusses the potential for
cities to become more equitable and sustainable.
Since then, the concept of the Global City has been adopted by many other scholars
and researchers. It is now used to describe cities that have a high degree of
global connectivity, influence, and integration. These cities are often hubs for
international business and finance, and they have a significant role in shaping
global politics, culture, and economics. Examples of Global Cities include London,
New York, Tokyo, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
The Global City concept has also been applied to smaller cities, such as Toronto
and Dubai. These cities may not have the same level of global influence as the
larger cities, but they do have a significant role in the global economy and
international affairs.
In addition to these cities, the concept of the Global City has been extended to
include global regions, such as the European Union and the emerging markets of
Brazil, Russia, India, and China. These global regions are characterized by high
levels of integration and interdependence, and they have a significant role in the
global economy.
Overall, the Global City concept has become a powerful tool for understanding the
dynamics of the contemporary global economy. It provides an important framework for
understanding the complex relationships between cities, regions, and countries in
the global economy.

In addition, cultural diversity in global cities can also foster tolerance and
understanding between different people, allowing them to learn from each other’s
differences while still respecting each other’s beliefs and values. This can help
to create an inclusive environment, which can benefit everyone in the city,
regardless of their cultural, religious or racial backgrounds.
Overall, cultural diversity is an essential part of global cities, allowing them to
thrive and become successful. This can be seen in many of the world’s leading
cities, where cultural diversity has contributed to their success and helped to
create a vibrant and open atmosphere.

So for some people, Global city is both a dream and a nightmare. Indeed, it is a
huge source of attraction to the migrants and tourists. And yet this can also be
source of inequalities and inequities in the society. There are high-living
professionals with greener pastures yet undeniably, which may not be visible to
sight are the marginal dwellers, sweat-shop workers, poorly paid labor in the grey
areas, asylum seekers, undocumented immigrants, drug dealers, sex workers, and the
homeless. These global cities are hubs of innovation, creativity and productivity
and the creators of ne1w trends and fashions, but unfortunately, these are also the
niches of demi-monde and social ills of all kinds. There are two sides of a coin.
