DVO – the DOD’s LPVO of choice.

It became the optic of choice for the Army's new

M110A1 7.62X51 SDMR. The Army’s TANGO6T
featured the first focal plane DWLR6 reticle for
the 7.62 NATO cartridge.

In 2019 USOCOM acquired the TANGO6T as part

of the S-VPS contract in a second focal plane
optic with the 5.56 reticle.

In 2020 SIG’s TANGO6T saw further acceptance

as part of the U.S. Army’s DVO (direct view optic)
program for the M4 carbine and the M855A1
enhanced 5.56 round (muzzle velocity 2951 fps,

optics for both military and commercial use. The
TANGO6T DVO is a shining example of their
cutting-edge technology.

The LPVO (low power variable optic) has

increasingly been replacing the ubiquitous red
dot sight or a fixed power prism optic. The LPVO
provides the operator with greater flexibility and
an ability to engage targets at longer ranges with
a simple twist of the wrist. The TANGO6T DVO
meets that objective.

The TANGO6T entered military service in 2018 as

part of the SDMR (Squad Designated Marksman
Rifle) program.

SIG SAUER’S TANGO6T DVO
2022

In October 2022, SIG made the TANGO6T DVO

available to consumers and I have the great
pleasure of reviewing what is unquestionably an
outstanding optic. Before getting into the
details, I want to dismiss some reviewer
comments about the FFP LPVO’s ability to
replace the red dot sight.

You’ll hear complaints about losing the reticle at

1X magnification and that reticle illumination is
insufficient in bright light.

First, using 1X magnification will generally be

insufficient, simply close the objective lens cap
and use the LPVO at 1X, with both eyes open as
a red dot sight. Having said that I’ll get on with
the review.

The TANGO6T DVO has an optical quality rivaling

some of the better glass on the market; contrast,
color fidelity, brightness and detail are all
exceptional. At 6X I observed no aberrations
along the image periphery, everything was sharp
edge to edge with excellent color fidelity at all
magnification settings.

The first thing you’ll notice about this optic is the

overall build quality. SIG ships it already installed
on the ALPHA4 cantilever mount. The ALPHA4 is
used throughout the DoD and was previously
unavailable to the consumer market. I can only
describe it as a praiseworthy feat of mechanical
engineering.
