Make Crocheted products with project plan

Crocheting is one of the needlecrafts techniques that is done by

interlocking the loops of yarn using a crochet hook. It is a lifelong skill that you can
use to make gifts and home decors.
Explore this module to get started learning how to crochet.

What's New
One of the most popular yarn crafts is crochet. It’s fun to learn it in our
home. It’s a little tricky in the beginning, but it’s easy to learn the crochet when you
follow the procedures. Once you’ve learned the basics, you can move on to
intermediate and advanced techniques.
What is It
Here are the steps when making a crochet

1. Make a Slip Knot.

Begin the slip knot by laying the yarn down and

looping it. Making sure your short piece, the tail, is
on top of the long yarn. Next, flip the whole thing
down, onto the longer yarn. Grab the middle yarn
between your thumb and forefinger and pull the
middle yarn out gently. Hang on to the tail and pull
the loop tight.

2. Tighten the Loop

Pick up the loop in your left hand and slide

the hook into the loop tightening the loop
around the hook. Not too tight, there should
be some give.

3. How to Hold the Thread

Turn the long side of the thread

around your pinkie and twist it
around your index finger. Grab the
short side, the tail, with your middle
and ring fingers. Hold the hook in
your right hand. This way of holding
the thread and hook will create
enough space to move the hook and
will keep tension on the thread.

4. Begin the Chain

Begin with the starting chain stitch by twisting the

thread around the hook and pulling it through the
loop.

5. Finish the Chain

Don't make the loop too tight and
continue to the second loop by pulling
the thread through the second loop.
Keep continuing until you have a
chain.

6. Begin the First Row

To start the first row of single crochet,

insert the hook into the second chain
from the hook. You now have two
loops around your hook.

7. Crocheting the Chained Row

Catch the yarn in your left hand with the hook and pull it through the
first loop. This will leave you again with two loops on your hook. Catch
the yarn again with your hook and pull it through both loops. Repeat
these steps until you get to the end of the chained row.

To crochet more rows, chain one stitch at the end of each end of your
row and turn your crochet over to start the next row.

8. Finish

To finish, cut the long side of the yarn and pull it

through the loop.

Remember, it doesn't matter what you're

crocheting, it only matters that you're doing it!!

Now that you know the steps to making a crochet, this time a sample project
plan is presented in preparation for making your own plan. Study the sample plan
below and start planning.

Project plan

I. Name of project: Left over Yarn Bracelets

II. Objectives
1. To make a Yarn bracelets
2. To develop skills in crochet
3. To demonstrates steps in making a Yarn bracelets

III. Sketch
Materials Finished Product

IV. Tools and Materials needed:

!. Yarn
2. Crochet hook
3. Scissors
4. 10 3mm beads
5. Transparent nail polish (Optional)

V. Procedure
Before starting to make the bracelet, we have to insert the beads. Use the
transparent nail polish and wipe the end of the yarn. Let it dry. This will make the
yarn harder to insert through the beads hole. If you don’t know how many pattern
repeats you will need for the bracelet length, you can insert more beads, and remove
the ones left at the end. When you have beads on the yarn, it is time for crochet.
1. Leave a long tail and make a slip knot. *Ch 3, slide 1 bead close to the
hook, yarn over and make a dc in the first ch st of 3. * Repeat 10 times or until you
have the desired length. Fasten off, with a long tail.
2. Sliding Knot Closure I put 2 beads on the bracelet ends just to know
which ones they were and which were the sliding knot ends. Place the bracelet ends
one on top of the other without overlapping them. Take a strand of yarn, about 20
cm long, and fold it in half, keeping one end longer and one shorter. Place it over the
bracelet so that it ends with the loop on the left. Take the longer end and wrap it
over a few times, at least 3, from left to right. Keep the loops looser and don’t overlap
them. Insert the crochet hook through the loops from left to right, grab the longer
end (the one you wrapped) and pull it through the loops. Grab both knot ends pull
and tie the knot. Make 1 knot on both sliding knot ends, closer to the sliding knot
and cut the rest of them. And done! You have a sliding knot closure for your
bracelet.
