Loosening of soil helps in reducing
the pest and disease on the plants.
Soil loosening includes digging
mulching of top 6 inches of soil.
Gardener will use proper tools for
loosening of the soil

09 – APPLYING OF NUTRIENTS
PROCEDURE IMPLEMENTATION
1. Nutrients Nutrients are essential for plants
Before applying of nutrients beds
will be prepared for soil will be
loosened. Same applied for trees,
shrubs and ground cover
The soil will be enriched by applying
nutrient
Supervisor/ Gardener will ensure
the quantity of nutrient based on
the growth of the plant.
Gardener will mix the nutrient with

store.
10 – APPLYING OF MANURE
PROCEDURE IMPLEMENTATION
1. Applying of Manure Manuring of trees, shrubs, ground
cover and lawns are basic essential.
Manuring is done every quarterly
Supervisor/Gardener will quantify
the quantity before the application.
Gardener should ensure safety
precautions before applying of the

day
Manure to be monitored and
measured in a log book

11.2 PLANTING OF PLANTS (SHRUBS, GROUND COVER AND SEASONAL PLANTS)
PROCEDURE IMPLEMENTATION
1. Planting of plants Area to be marked for planting of
the plants
Proper pit to be excavated for the
plants based on the size
Proper marking (Centre to Centre)
distance to be given by the
supervisor
Supervisor should ensure name of
the plants to the gardener
Proper staking to be given after
plantation of the plant
Proper manure to be applied at the
time of plantation.
No air voids to be left at the root ball
of the plant.
Through watering to be done after
the plantation is completed
Gardener should ensure to use
proper tools at the time of
plantation
Gardener should wash their hand
and face after the work is
completed.
Plant numbers to be monitored and
measured.
10
12 – STAKING
PROCEDURE IMPLEMENTATION
1. Staking A tree with a trunk 3 inch or less in
diameter needs just one stake
which is placed on the windward
side, you can more desired.
Larger trees should be staked with
two or three stakes in opposing
direction
Staking is needed to keep a tree
upright and protect it from breaking
in the wind, but this is not true. A
healthy tree will always keep itself
upright and in fact if the lower part
is held rigidly by a stake there is
more, not less chance of the upper
part breaking in a storm. The real
reason to stake is to hold the roots
steady so that the tree can quickly
send out new roots and attach itself
into the ground.
Tie the plant to the stake about two-
thirds of the way up the stem using
string, twine or hook –and loop tape
made especially for staking.
The single-plant stakes or props
that consist of a slim metal stake
with a loop at the top are also
useful. Simply guide the plant to
grow through the loop for support
as it grows
You could use the following items
for staking of plants like bamboo,
rebar, tobacco sticks, plastic stakes,
tomato cages, chicken fencing and
nylon netting etc.
11
13 – TRANSPLANTING OF TREES AND SHRUBS
PROCEDURE IMPLEMENTATION
1. Transplanting of trees and shrubs Small deciduous shrubs, and trees
with diameter less than one inch,
may be moved without soil on the
roots (root ball). Larger plants
should be moved with soil. Most
shrubs need a root ball diameter
about two-thirds of the branch
spread. So if the shrub is 6 ft.
across, the root ball should be 4 feet
across.
Dig a precise hole for shrub. Dig a
new planting hole where you intend
to move the shrub before you dig it
up.
12
14 – SEASONAL PLANTS (PLANTING AND MAINTENANCE)
PROCEDURE IMPLEMENTATION
1. Seasonal Plants (Planting) Supervisor should ensure to
procure or to indent well in
advanced to procure the seedlings
of the seasonal plant well in
advance
Seasonal plants are decorative
plants that change appearance with
each season
Log book to be maintained on
seasonal plants
Proper guidance to be given for the
gardeners at the time of watering of
seasonal plants
Seasonal plants having life span of
maximum of two to three months
Nutrients and manure essential for
the seasonal plants
A seasonal plant attracts lots of
bees and butterflies
Based on the season, seasonal
plants will be planted.
2. Seasonal plants (Maintenance) Not to water on flower at the time of
full bloom
Gardener should ensure the
seasonal plants should be free from
pest control
13
15 – NURSERY MAINTENANCE
PROCEDURE IMPLEMENTATION
1. Nursery Maintenance Gardener will perform the following
duties and task for the nursery
maintenance and plants
propagation.
Propagation maintenance of plants
Germination and growing of palm/
tree seeds.
Propagation of plants through air
layering and cutting
Watering/irrigation
Fertilizing, manure and nutrients
Fungicide and herbal pesticides
Soil media to be prepared, same to
be filled to pots and bags
Potting and re-potting
Proper monitoring and
measurement to be done on day to
day task, monitored by the
supervisor
Nursery should be kept spick and
span
Proper tools to be used at the time
of replanting
2. Composting Green waste is one of the simplest
levels of the process of composting
Composting requires making a heap
of wet organic waste such as leaves,
cut grass and food scraps
Period is maintained and monitored
for the material to break down in
humus.
Only few particular vegetable peels
are good for composting
