Test Validity
Test Validity
Test validity
A test cannot be valid if it is unreliable.
The assessment instrument measures what is intent to measure.
(e.g objectives and learning of the students)
It is the most important criterion of the good assessment instrument.
In everyday use of the word, valid means that something is sound, meaning,
grounded on principle or evidence.
Pag sinabing valid, halimbawa yung information is valid basically your saying
that your information is correct. when your argument is valid ibig sabihin your
argument is grounded on principle. For example, meron kang inargue sa isang
tao, meron kang inargue sa korte, meron kang inargue sa youtube or
facebook… na sinabi mo na ang isang game na ‘to or play na ‘to na isang
scam because wala syang licenses, wala syang semi license or wala syang
business perment to operate in the Phlippines.. therefore it is illegal.. that
argument is valid kasi it is grounded on principle, it is grounded on evidence…
but when you say.. “ay hindi illegal naman itong game na to marami naman
itong natutulungan tong larong ito” .. its that a valid argument? Not
necessarily because how sure are we na marami syang natutulungan yan.. for
all we know marami syang nakokobrahang pera sa ibang mga tao, diba… so
that argument maybe its correct but its not necessarily valid because it is not
grounded on principle or evidence, okay? Naunawaan ba?
In testing and assessment, validity is a term used in conjunction with the
meaningfulness of the test score what the test score truly means.
It is meaningful, grounded on principle or theory… kung baga legit sya.. so
kung yung isang test is sinasabi nya na nagmemeasure sya ng intelligence..and
then actually measured intelligence then that test is valid, okay kasi mayroon
tayong evidence na ang test na ito ay nagmemeasure ng evidence.
So pag yung intelligence test is sinabi na ang IQ mo is around 125.. and then
actually shows 125 talaga yung IQ mo is ibig sabihin na talagang above
average ka then that test has some evidence of validity.
So validity is like that.. if a test in technical term.. if a test measure what is
intend to measure then the test is valid.
The main difference between validity and reliability is reliability it doesn’t to be
true, it doesn’t to be legitimate, it doesn’t have to be pinpointing the construct that
we want to measure… basta consistent lang siya… but validity on the other hand,
talks about if the test actually hits the marks, okay? .. kasi kung baga ang reliability
it hits consistently hits somewhere but not necessarily the marks.. halimbawa,
nalang nito…
if a test is reliable, mataas ang reliability but not valid.. yes it is consistent but doesn’t
hit the mark… ito yung target.. ito yung construct, so kung hindi natatarget yung
construct ay reliable pa rin wala rin kwenta .. ok.. but if the test is reliable and valid..
ayan.. laging nasa mark sya.. nahihit nya yung mark.. nahihit nya yung construct na
gusto nyang ihit.. ok.. so ganyan yung pinagkaiba ng reliability and validity.
For more technical term,
Validity- is a jugdement or estimate of how well a test measures what it purports to
measure in a particular context.
