11. Registered academic projects completed with respective course No.(s):
Lab Oriented Project (BITS C313) (Grade – A)
Title: Electronic Implementation of Neural Networks.
Instructor: Dr. Gaurav Dar, Associate Professor, BITS Pilani | K. K. Birla, Goa Campus.
Description: Project aimed at fabrication of a Hopfield’s Auto-Associative Neural Network
memory for storage and retrieval of various patterns using fixed weight neurons. The circuit
which comprised of resistors as weights, voltages as input and output vectors and operational
amplifiers as neurons was able to store a few patterns and retrieve it on the basis of how near the
input pattern is to the stored patterns. The project also included construction of an Analog-to-
Digital convertor using neural networks. An analog input value was converted into its binary
representation by equating the conversion error to the Lyapunov energy function.
Technologies used: MATLAB & PSPICE.

12. Registered academic projects doing with respective course No.(s):

Lab Oriented Project (BITS C314)
Title: Electronic Implementation of Neural Networks.
Instructor: Dr. Ramesha C K, Assistant Professor, BITS Pilani | K. K. Birla, Goa Campus.
Details: Project aims at fabrication of an Auto-Associative Neural Network memory for storage
and retrieval of patterns using neurons with digitally programmable weights. Disadvantage of the
previous circuit was that since the value of the resistors remained fixed during asynchronous
updating of neurons, it was not possible to store a different pattern and retrieve it without
recalculating the weights and reconstructing the entire circuit. Hence, the fixed weights were
replaced by digitally programmable weights using weighted-resistor Multiplying Digital to
Analog Converter (MDAC) so as to be able to store several patterns and retrieve them by simply
changing the digital control word.
Technologies being used: Java, MATLAB, PSPICE.

13. Patents & Publications:

During the course of the project I forwarded a paper titled, “Solution to the Tic-Tac-Toe
problem using Hamming Distance approach in a Neural Network” as a first author, to the
‘2011 INNS International Educational Symposium on Neural Network’ and also to ‘2011
IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence in Bioinformatics and Computational
Biology’, the results of which are yet awaited. The paper proposed a very efficient
algorithm for the artificial intelligence of an interactive tic-tac-toe game.

14. Extra curricular activities:

1. Member of International Neural Network Society (INNS).
2. Teaching Assistant for the course – Neural networks and Applications (August-
December 2010).
3. Fabricated a RC controlled aircraft as an active member of Aerodynamics Club.
4. Worked with Nirmaan for two years, a NPO at BITS Pilani K. K. Birla, Goa Campus. My
work included employment generation for women of Zuari by selling the products made
by them during Waves (annual cultural festival).
5. Ranked 2nd in Mosaic, a creative designing event during Quark 2010, the technical
festival of BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla, Goa Campus.
6. Member of Arts and Deco Department.
