smoke concentration in protected spaces can be maintained within values
tolerable by occupants. The protected spaces shall include stairwells, at least

and large enough to accommodate them. Smoke control systems in
accordance with Section 10.2.7.3 of this RIRR shall be provided in the cited
protected spaces for safe evacuation of all occupants and safety of the
responding fire fighters and rescuers during the conduct of their operations.
