Type of visa: Permanent

Basic eligibility:

● Work in one of the Target Sectors


● Meet the high income threshold of AUD162,000 p.a. OR demonstrate the ability to attract salary
above the high income threshold in Australia
● Internationally recognised achievements (industry awards, media interviews, trade forum
representation and/or public presentation)
● Between 18 to 55 yo (waiver possible)
● Receive nomination from either an individual or an organisation with a national reputation in the
same field. Your nominator must be either:
○ AU citizen
○ AU permanent resident
○ Eligible NZ citizen (NZ citizen living in AU before 26 February 2001)
○ AU organisation

Application process:

1. Seek nomination (Miet can assist only if an AU professional body can nominate i.e. EA or ACS)
2. Obtain a completed nomination form from your nominator
3. Submit an Express of Interest (EOI) application to the Department (DoHA)
4. Receive an invitation to apply for the visa if accessed as eligible
5. Submit a visa application with all supporting evidence to DoHA
6. Arrange health and police checks
7. Visa application notification

Visa processing time:

75% of applications: 73 days


90% of applications: 3 months

HKSAR nationals will receive priority processing

(Note: EOI processing time: approx. 2 weeks to 9 months)

Visa Application Cost (VAC) in AUD:


1st installment

● Primary applicant: $4,305


● Secondary applicant >= 18 yo: $2,155
● Secondary applicant under 18 yo: $1,080

2nd installment:

● Any applicant over 18 yo NOT having functional english: $4,890 (per applicant)

*Functional English: An average band score of min. 4.5 in the four test components of IELTS
