he is having an interview with the teacher.

Teacher: Which is worse for your health, smoking or drinking?


Charles: I think that both are bad for my health.
Teacher: Good answer: Which is harder, math or English?
Charles: In my personal opinion, I think English is hard but math is harder.
Teacher: For you. Is it better to be rich and dumb or poor and smart?
Charles: I prefer to be poor and smart, even to be rich is good.
Teacher: Does technology make the world better or worse?
Charles: Yes, it does. I like technology so much.
Teacher: Which game is more entertaining, Tetris or Angry Birds?
Charles: I don’t like both, but Angry birds sounds entertaining.
Teacher: Is it better to study English in class or online?
Charles: For me is better in class
Teacher: Last question. Are you smarter than your parents?
Charles: Never! They are smarter than me, of course

Grammar in use.

We use the comparative and superlative adjectives to make descriptions.

Rule 1:
When the adjective has one syllable, we add the suffix er for the comparative form and add est for
superlative form.

EXAMPLE:

Tom is stronger that Peter, but Bob is the strongest.

Rule 2:
When the adjective has one syllable and it ends in consonant, plus vowel, plus consonant. We duplicate
the last consonant and we adds the suffix er for the comparative form and adds est for superlative
form.
This rule is not applicable for adjective that ends in (w). Look at the chart with this rule.

When the adjective has two syllables
and it ends in (y) plus consonant. We replace (y) for (i)
and we add the suffix er for the comparative form and
add est for superlative form. Look at the chart with this
rule.

EXAMPLE:

Rule 4:
When the adjective has two or more syllables, we use the word (more) before the adjective for the
comparative form and use the word (most) for superlative form.

EXAMPLE:

Maria is very elegant. She is more elegant that Luis, but Kate is the most elegant.

Note: There are some irregular adjectives that are not added any rule.

Note: to make sentences we have to pay very careful attention to the following:

We use the verb to be to make sentences and the word (than) to establish comparisons between people,
animals and objects. We don’t use than in superlative sentences. Look at the example.

Maria is very tall. She is taller than me.

Bosques de León is good. It is better than other schools.

Sofia is pretty. She is prettier than Lorena. Sofia is the prettiest girl in the
class.

After all the explained you have to demonstrate that you understood the rules to form comparative and
superlative adjectives.
