3. Activity Activity 2. Plot. Connect. Identify
Directions: Form group of three (3). Plot the following sets of points in the Cartesian plane. Connect each set of
points consecutively. (Cartesian plane is provided for each group).
1. (-1, 2); (-1, 0); (1, 0); (1, 2)
2. (1, 0); (3, 0); (1,-2); (3, 2)
3. (-4, -2); (-4, -4); (0, -2); (0,- 4)
4. (3, 4); (2, 2); (3, 0); (4, 2)
5. (-4, 2); (-5, 1); (-3, 1); (-4, -2)
6. (-2, 4); (-4, 2); (-1, 2); (1, 4)
Questions:
In each group what shape did you formed? How many sides? How many vertices?
Do you know the specific name of the quadrilateral you created?
What do you call the square, rhombus, kite, parallelogram and rectangle?
4. Discussion
Quadrilateral-is a close plane figure consisting of four line segments or sides.
A parallelogram is a quadrilateral with two pairs of opposite sides that are parallel.
1. A Quadrilateral is a parallelogram if both pairs of opposite sides are congruent
Page 4 of 6
The measure of ∠M=60° ;
m∠A=120°; m∠T=60°; and
m∠H=120°.
∠A + ∠T = 120°+60° = 180°
∠ T + ∠H = 60°+120° = 180°
∠M + ∠H = 60°+120° = 180°
∠A + ∠M = 120°+60° = 180°
Therefore, quadrilateral MATH is a parallelogram.
5. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if each diagonal divides a parallelogram into two congruent triangles.

6. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if one pair of opposite sides are both congruent and parallel.
5. Application
A. Read and analyse the situation and solve the following problems.
1. How can a Iloilo Builders Corporation (IBC) contractor be sure that a concrete slab is rectangular without
measuring its angle?
2. The trademark of AZ lighting based on the parallelogram. Why are the bars equal?
3. Mia can build the frame for a book case. How could she use the properties of quadrilaterals to position the

shelves so that they are parallel to the base of the frame?
1. Given the parallelogram ABCD with the measure ∠B=3x+36 and m ∠D=6x-6. Find the measure of the four
angles?
2. Two consecutive angles of a parallelogram have measures (x+30) and (3x-90) respectively. Determine the
measure of each angle of a parallelogram.
3. The King Family needs to replace several balusters in a railing. Which properties guarantee that balusters
have the same length?
