INSTRUCTIONS:-
 Answers to this paper must be written on the paper provided separately.
 You will not be allowed to write during the first 15 minutes.
 This time is to be spent in reading the question paper.
 The time given at the head of this paper is the time allowed for writing the
answers.
 The intended marks for the questions or parts of questions are given
alongside the questions.
 All working, including rough work, must be clearly shown and must be
done on the same sheet as the rest of the answer. Omission of essential
working will result in the loss of marks.
 For geometry, figures to be copied to the answer script.

(i) The coordinates of the point (2,5) when it is rotated about the origin,

Attempt any four questions
Question 5
a) All the people in a locality read the magazine Femina or Illustrated Weekly or
both. If 110 read Femina, 90 read Illustrated Weekly and 40 read both find:
(i) How many people are there in the locality?
(ii) How many people read only Femina?
(iii) How many people read only Illustrated Weekly? [3]

b) A shopkeeper buys goods worth ₹25,000 and spends 10 % on the packaging,


postages, and transportations etc. of these goods. If he desires a profit of 30 %;
find the selling price. [3]

c) Construct a rhombus ABCD whose diagonals are 4.6 cm and 3.4 cm


respectively. Write the measure of each side of the rhombus. [4]

(i) the cost of ploughing it at the rate of ₹10 per m2.
(ii) the cost of fencing it with a wire at the rate of ₹1.50 per metre. [4]

a) The area of a triangle is 4.2 mm2 and its height is 2.1 mm. Find its base. [3]

b) The volume of a cuboidal tank is 6.4 m3. The dimensions of its base are 2 m by
1.6 m. Find the depth of the tank. [3]

c) Attempt this question on a graph paper.


A point P(-5,4) is reflected in the Y axis to point P’ and in X axis to point P”. Find
(i) The coordinates of P’
(ii) The coordinates of P”
(iii) Reflection of P(-5,4) in origin [4]

Question 8
a) Find the area of the shaded portion in the figure given below if OC is 3 cm and
OB is 5 cm. Take  = 3.14

b) Evaluate 1122 using the identity (x + a)2. [3]

c) In the given figure PQ || SR and PQ = RS. Show that PS = QR

Question 9
a) The dimensions of a room are length = 4.8 m, breadth = 3.2 m and height =
3m. The room has a window of size 1m by 1.25 m and two doors each of size 1
m by 2 m. Find the cost of painting the walls of the room at the rate of ` 40 per
m2. [3]

b) Factorise: 3y4 – 243 [3]

c) (i) Plot the new position of the given points on the graph paper.
(1) A (− 3, − 4) when it is rotated about the origin, clockwise, through 90 .
Label it A’ and write its coordinates.
(2) A (− 3, − 4) when it is rotated about the origin, anticlockwise, through
90 . Label it A” and write its coordinates.
(ii) By selling a scooter for ` 9200, a man gains 15%. Find the cost price of
the scooter. [4]

b) If ABCD is a square, find the area of the shaded portion in the figure given

c) A block of wood, in the shape of a cuboid with dimensions 1 m x 80 cm x 60 cm,


is to be cut into an exact number of identical cubes. Find the least number of
pieces that can be cut. [4]
