3.2 Control box

The manual mainly introduces content about IRIS NV elevator maintenance

work only. Therefore, the manual does not include detailed technology details,
please refer to STEP control box manual.

Notice

 When check the control box, cut off the power supply; after
performing Lock Out /Tag Out, conduct work.
 Please determine whether plastic cap is covered on the terminal.
If cap is not covered on its top, please make cap cover the top.
 If power supply is 200V or 400V, please affix marking label to
make others take care.
 If PCB is applied, it should be avoided that PCB is scratched by
protruded pin at back.
 If INV elevator type is applied, after cutting off power supply,
smoothing condenser is still in charging state; therefore, please
determine whether DC voltage on capacitor two ends conduct
working after discharging completely.

1) The 1st side: ⓐ R-S, ⓑ R-T, ⓒ S-T

2) The 2 side: ⓓ R1-S1, ⓔ R1-T1, ⓕ S1-T1
If measured voltage (ⓐ) of the 1st side and measured voltage (ⓓ) of the 2nd side are
higher than 2% of service voltage, cut off MCCB of building distributor box, and measure
resistance between R-R1 after opening control box MCCB, measuring result should be
0[Ω] or near to 0[Ω].
(2) Measure rest S, T phase with method same with the one for R mentioned above. If there
is abnormal condition, please conduct accurate inspection and takes measures
(replacing) according to inspection results.
(3) Measure peak (p.m. 3~4 o’clock, 8~9 o’clock) voltage in each summer and ordinary (a.m.)
voltage, and record measuring results on the daily inspection record.
(4) After cutting off the power supply and implementing Lock Out / Tag Out, inspect whether
MCCB surface discolors; and determine whether its temperature is normal after
measuring the temperature.
(5) Please determine whether there is abnormal noise or vibration inside MCCB.

(1) Working overview

Resistance property of insulator is insulation. Measure property of this insulation to
prevent electric shock accident and defective insulation to protect apparatus and avoid
safety accident coursed by abnormal action of elevator.
(2) Electric shock preventing
1) DC voltage straightly through main circuit of frequency converter, even though the
MCCB is turned off, voltage charged by the capacitor can not be discharged
completely at once. Thus, please pay much attention to safety issue. And capacitor
(AL electrolytic capacitor) connects with main circuit, even though the MCCB is
turned off, voltage charged by the capacitor can not be discharged completely and
immediately. Therefore, please adopt tester to determine whether DC voltage is
0~10VDC before working.
2) Please must implement insulation test before measuring the insulation to prevent
PCB from being damaged.
There are semiconductor elements used in the circuit, therefore, elements will be
damaged if integrated circuit is earthed. Thus, please adopt insulation resistance
tester (generation voltage 15V) or digital integrated electricity meter to conduct
insulation test on all connector terminal in the control box.
(3) Please determine connecting control box earthing.
(4) For detailed insulation measuring methods, please refer to “Sigma Elevator Test-Run
Adjust Manual”.
