Step 1: Watch the video [Big Think]. (2012, October 6). Steven Pinker:
Linguistics as a Window to Understanding the Brain [Video File]. You
should activate Subtitles/closed captions to make it easier for you to
take notes.

Step 2: According to the video of step 1, answer the following questions in


the forum:

a. What is language?

Words (basic components of sentences, which are stored in memory) and rules
(what we put together and give words an order, within phrases and
sentences based on established parameters; such as syntax, morphology,
phonology). All of this is connected through linguistic interfaces, which allow
us to produce and understand our own language, as well as that of others.

b. What concept is developed with the famous Noam Chomsky phrase


“Colorless green ideas sleep furiously”? Give 1 example.

Being an example of categorical error, this construction was used to demonstrate


that, at that time, the famous probabilistic model of grammar was
inadequate, as well as the need to create a more structured model.

c. What is the basic explanation for the fact that a person speaks a
foreign language with a specific accent?

The fact that a person enabled a foreign language with a specific accent is due to
having a disturbed ear with his mother tongue and even knowing another
language he maintains.

Step 3: Create three (3) original questions based on the video of step 1 and
answer them. Be sure to share them in the forum for your e-mates to
read.

a. What are the branches of linguistics?

Phonetics – Phonology – Morphology – Syntax – Semantics – Lexicology

b. Who is Noam Chomsky?

Avram Noam Chomsky es un lingüista, filósofo, politólogo y activista


estadounidense de origen judío. Es profesor emérito de lingüística en el
Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts y una de las figuras más destacadas
de la lingüística del siglo XX, gracias a sus trabajos en teoría lingüística y
ciencia cognitiva.

c. What is universal grammar?

Universal grammar is a linguistic theory of the transformational and generative


school that asserts that certain common principles underlie all natural
languages.

a. ¿Cuál es el propósito del reglamento de la práctica pedagógica y


educativa?

Establecer las condiciones y disposiciones que orientan y regulan el desarrollo de


actividades de prácticas pedagógicas y educativas de la Escuela de Ciencias
de Educación.

b. ¿Qué es el seminario prepráctica? Explique cómo es el proceso de


inscripción.

Se desarrolla en el periodo previo al inicio de la ruta de practica pedagógica propia


reflexión sobre el ejercicio de la practica y el alistamiento administrativo para
que los estudiantes cuenten con las condiciones optimas y necesarias para el
inicio de su práctica pedagógica en el periodo académico respectivo, de su
inscripción y participación como estudiante en la licenciatura depende de la
asignación de escenario de practica y el estudiante de la licenciatura lo

deberá realizar cuando va a iniciar su ruta de practica pedagógica y cuando
requiera cambio de escenario de práctica.

c. ¿Cuál de los actores de la práctica pedagógica se encarga de la


gestión y dinamización de los escenarios de práctica?

d. Nombre los cinco principios de actuación de la práctica pedagógica.
