Exponential Function Assure DLL

This lesson plan is for a Grade 11 class on exponential functions. [1] It analyzes the learners, who range in age from 16-30 years old and have different learning styles, with most being audio-visual learners. [2] The objectives are to distinguish between exponential functions, solve exponential equations and inequalities, and understand their real-world applications. [3] The teacher will use a variety of strategies like lectures, discussions, real-world examples and technology like presentations to meet the objectives.

Lesson Title: GENERAL MATHEMATICS – EXPONENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Grade Level: Grade 11 CHRYSANTHEMUM (GAS 1)

Lesson Length: 50 minutes

I. Analyze Learners

Learners’ general characteristics:

The lesson is designed for grade 11 students. The class of 15 males and 32 females age ranges from 16 – 30
years old. 11 of the learners are kinesthetic, 20 members of the class are verbal learners while 26 of them are
audio visual learners. All the students can read and comprehend given examples showed to them. 4 out of 57 are
having difficulty with

Entry characteristics:
I. The students in this class possessed kinesthetic, verbal, and audio visual intelligences.

Learning styles:
 Although the class is comprised of students of all learning styles, most students in this class are audio -
visual learners.

II. State Standards and Objectives

This lesson is designed to meet Common Core Standards for General Mathematics.
The standards covered in this lesson plan include:
1. distinguishes between exponential function,
2. solve exponential equations, functions, inequalities; and
3. Reflect on the importance of exponential function in society.
III. Select Strategies, Methods, Media, and Materials
Strategies. A variety of teacher-centered and student-centered strategies have been
designed for this lesson and hands on teaching strategy.
Real – life Situation

The Chain Letter's Exponential Growth

Ask the students about their views on chain letters. Explain exponential increase.
Connect the chain letters in the spread of fake news.
Socratic Method
Assessing Prior knowledge by presenting the following questions:
1. What are the symbols for equality? Inequality?
2. What do you know about exponential function?
Lecture - Discussion

Definition: An exponential expression is an expression of the form a∗b x−c + d ,

where (b > 0, b ≠ 1).
Define exponential equation, Exponential Inequality and Exponential function.
Identify the following if the given is and exponential equation, function, inequality or none of the choices.

Solving exponential equations.

Make use of the above property if you are able to express both sides of the equation in terms
of the same base.
Step 1: Express both sides in terms of the same base.
Step 2: Equate the exponents.
Step 3: Solve the resulting equation.
Provide the following examples:

Integrating Technology.

Technology and Materials. The use of the application “The Hat” as name random picker. Powerpoint
slides, Projector, Laptop are used for the presentation of topics.

IV. Utilize Technology, Media, and Materials

Prepare the materials:  The teacher will set up the Laptop and the projector before the class.
Prepare the environment: The teacher will check the cleanliness of the classroom and the attendance.

Prepare the learners: Students will pray before the class starts. They will be informed about the
objectives of the class. They will also be informed about the assessment after the discussion. By doing this,
students will be comfortable when the class begins.

V. Require Learner Participation

VI. Evaluate and Revise
