1. Why does the poet like the green dining room?


The poet likes the green dining room because of its ceiling and wall.

2. What was the poet hoping for when she stood underneath the painted ceiling?
The poet was hoping that a cherry fruit would drop from the tumbling fruits.

3. Why does the poet think she cannot pluck the fruits?
The poet thinks she cannot pluck the fruits because they are magical fruits.

4. What is so special about the green dining room?


Ans. The green -room is very special because of its ceiling and wall.

5. Why does the poet say that she will never know what the fruits are like?
Ans. As she could not reach the ceiling, the poet thought that she would never
know what the fruits were like.
III. Answer the following question in 30-40 words.

1. Describe the painted ceiling of the dining room.


Ans. The painted ceiling of the dining room had images of various fruits. The
fruits looked so fresh and beautiful that the little girl in the poem thought them to
be magical. There was a round hole near the fruits. The little girl thought that
through that some fruits would drop.

2. What kind of magical powers does the poet imagine the fruits have?
Ans. The poet imagines that the fruits have some magical powers. She believes
that each fruit can bring out something that normally cannot be seen or heard. She
further imagines that by eating the fruit, people may become invisible.

3. What is ‘a little bit sad’ for the poet?


Ans. The poet thought the fruits to be magical. As per the poet, because of her
short height, she could not reach the ceiling and pick fruits from there. Since she
could not accomplish that, she was ‘a little bit sad '.
