Introductory Message
This Self-Learning Module (SLM) is prepared so that you, our dear learners, can continue
your studies and learn while at home. Activities, questions, directions, exercises, and
discussions are carefully stated for you to understand each lesson.
Each SLM is composed of different parts. Each part shall guide you step-by-step as you
discover and understand the lesson prepared for you.
Pre-tests are provided to measure your prior knowledge on lessons in each SLM. This will
tell you if you need to proceed on completing this module or if you need to ask your
facilitator or your teacher’s assistance for better understanding of the lesson. At the end of
each module, you need to answer the post-test to self-check your learning. Answer keys are
provided for each activity and test. We trust that you will be honest in using these.
In addition to the material in the main text, Notes to the Teacher are also provided to our
facilitators and parents for strategies and reminders on how they can best help you on your
home-based learning.
Please use this module with care. Do not put unnecessary marks on any part of this SLM. Use
a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises and tests. And read the instructions
carefully before performing each task.
If you have any questions in using this SLM or any difficulty in answering the tasks in this
module, do not hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator.

Thank you.

This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful
opportunities for guided and independent learning at our own pace and time. It is
designed to help you polish your skills in deriving angles formed by parallel lines
cut by a transversal.
In this learning module the students will learn to derive relationships among
angles formed by parallel lines cut by a transversal using measurement and by
inductive reasoning.

Direction: Read each instruction carefully and answer the given questions in a
separate sheet of paper.
Assume that p ll q.
Complete the following statements using the given figure.

2. 4and 5 are supplementary angles. If m4 =760 then m5 = ___

3. 2and 8 are supplementary angles. If m2 =1040 then m8 = __

1. ∠1 and ∠6 are supplementary angles. If ∠1 = 760 then ∠6 = ______.
2. ∠4 and ∠5 are supplementary angles.

3. ∠2 and ∠8 are supplementary angles. If ∠2 = 1040 then ∠8 = ______.
4. ∠3 and ∠7 are supplementary angles. If ∠3= 1040 then ∠7 = ______.
’s In

Skew lines – lines that are non-coplanar and do not intersect.

Parallel lines – lines that are coplanar and do not intersect.
Oblique lines – lines that intersect.
Transversal – a line which intersects two coplanar lines at two different points.
Alternate Interior Angles – a pair of nonadjacent interior angles on opposite sides of a
transversal.
Corresponding Angles – a pair of nonadjacent interior and exterior angles on the same
side of a transversal.
Same-side Interior Angles – interior angles on the same-side of a transversal.

If two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, then corresponding angles are
congruent.

Figure 4. Parallel lines l1 and l2 cut by a transversal t

Solution:
a. m1 = 78º and m2 = 102 PAIC Theorem
b. 10x – 20 = 2x + 60 VAT
8x = 80 Subtract 2x and 20 from both sides.
x=8 Divide both sides by 8.
2x + 60 = 2(10) + 60 = 80 Substitute 10 in place of x.
m2 = 180 – 80 = 100
