School Year 2017-2018
Kelly Mae G. Noe JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT The year was 2033. A time when tablets, touch screens and cyber shot digital cameras were a thing of the past. I was aboard a private jet going back to the Philippines, my home country. I was not one of the passengers but as one of the crew of that flight. I have been working for the Echevarria’s International Airlines, owned and managed by a good friend Captain Chris Andre Echevarria. I was the head of her world class flight attendants. A day before that flight, I went to a concert in Nevada with a brother, Engineer Josef Marcus Dolom, New York’s highest paid Filipino Engineer. We watched Katrina Prixel Racho’s tenth solo concert in Nevada. Her concert was entitled “Lula-by”. Ms. Racho was doing great in her singing career; she had not forgotten to personally invite us in her concerts. The enjoyment was not complete because Zedrhed Jeshen Quigod was not able to attend the concert. She became very busy ever since she worked s the liaison office of the Philippines to the World Bank. I went out the cockpit to do the briefing to the passengers. I was shocked when I saw a man staring at me. He did not inform me that I would be having a short reunion with the first Filipino NBA players Marc Jacob Parcotilo, and John Clarence Lacerna . A thought cross my mind “Dati-rati 12 ft. lang, ngayon NBA court na” We had a long chat until we landed in the airport. We exchange our goodbyes and had to part ways. After work, I planned to drop by at the mall to buy a bigger luggage and new clothes for my weekend getaway. I was on my way to the department store when I saw a familiar face in one of the magazines in a stall, where newspapers and magazines were displayed. The cover of that fashion magazine was Mary Grace Baquiran . I stopped and bought one so I could read the article about them. She was a now successful owner of a boutique in Japan and was planning to put up a branch of it here in the Philippines since many Filipinos were going to Japan just to buy in her store. After shopping, I felt hungry. I noticed a newly opened restaurant in front of the mall--- Correa’s resto bar. I went inside to dine in. The waiter took my order right away. While waiting, I noticed someone who went out from the kitchen. He must be the chef of the kitchen with his outfit. He was talking to one of the diners and after shaking hands with the diner he turned his back to me. It was Danilo Correa, a classmate way back at Saint Anthony de Padua School. He seemed to recognize me. He offered himself a seat in front of me. He did not stay long since he has to fulfill his job in the kitchen of his newly opened restaurant. I decided to drive myself home. I turned on the television to CNN as I prepare my things for tomorrow. It was awkward to see Mika Jesu Devez delivering a news about Margaret Yalong, the secretary of defense in the Philippines, who went to the white house together with 3-star Brig. General Chester Kylle Lucina and 3-star Brig. General Gerald James Etulle , to have a courtesy call to the US president. I woke up early the next day, ate my breakfast and asked my maid to load my things up in the car. I started to drive to the airport. I slowed down when I saw the spotlight turning red. While waiting for the “go” signal, my attention was caught by 3 familiar faces in the electronic billboard. They were Juan Miguel Pascua and Kristalyn Aira Dela Cruz . The billboard was promoting their world tour dance concert that will start next month. Suddenly, my phone rang. It was Juliana Marie Esteban . She called to inform me he could not fly to Paris since he will have an emergency meeting with the famous Nautical Engineer, Sean Carlo Lucena. The good thing was he asked his co-pilot to be the one to take me to Paris. It didn’t take me long to arrive in the city of Lovers. I checked-in a hotel near the Eiffel Tower, managed by an old friend James Kyle Rizol. After exchanging our hellos and goodbyes I went to my suite to take some rest. I decided to take a short walk in the park in front of the Eiffel Tower. There were lovers passing in the park. Out of nowhere I heard a sort of familiar voice, “Ano ba yan ngayon pa nawalan ng ink” I opened my eyes and saw Ma’am Sharina Sara Ocor or Ma’am Sha, our adviser. Writing her lesson plan and she ran out of ink. I realized everything was just a dream. A dream I hope someday would come true.
