STS205202 STATISTICS VI: DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF EXPERIMENTS

Credits: 4 Total: 45 Hours

UNIT 1: Analysis of Variance 12 hrs


Meaning and assumptions; Fixed, random and mixed effect models. Analysis of variance of one-
way and two-way classified data with and without interaction effects. Multiple comparison tests:
Tukey’s method, Critical difference.

UNIT 2: Design of Experiments 10 hrs


Principles of design of experiments. Completely randomized, randomized block and Latin square
designs (CRD, RBD and LSD) –layout formation and analysis using fixed effect models.

UNIT 3: Efficiency of a design and Missing plot technique 6 hrs


Comparing of efficiencies of CRD, RBD and LSD models. Estimation of single missing
observation in RBD and LSD analysis.

UNIT 2: Factorial Experiments 10 hrs


Factorials experiments: Basic concepts, main effects, interactions, and orthogonal contrasts in 2 2
and 23 factorials experiments. Yates method of computing factorial effects total. Analysis and
testing of signigicance of effects in 22 and 23 factorials experimentsin RBD.

Unit 5: Confounding 7 hrs


Need for confounding, complete and partial confounding in a 23 factorial experiment with RBD
layout and its analysis.
