ZERO WASTE MANAGEMENT REPORT

June 2015

Keeping things clean and orderly is important. One can take better care of her
belongings and the school's facilities if she observes order, cleanliness, and proper
stewardship of her environment. The Zero Waste Management Implementation of the School
is now on it’s another year of implementation. The said program was a full environmental
service provider. Through this program, students feel a stronger commitment to continue their
efforts and be better environmental stewards each day.

This year a more participative action was seen among different stakeholders
and community members. In support to the project, parents, barangay aids and private sectors
involved themselves in cleaning, gardening, and painting the school during the Brigada
Eskwela as well as in observing the transformation of the school grounds through “Gulayan
sa Paaralan”.

The collaborative effort among these people has helped to achieve the goals of
the program-that is to be an Eco-friendly institution to its clientele. Now, sacks are seen in the
room for the dried leaves and papers. Their trashes are also thrown in a separate sack.

It is hope that everyone would give their share to the continuous success of this
initiative.

ZERO WASTE MANAGEMENT REPORT

July 2015

Zero-Waste Management is a continuous process of increasing

the level of awareness in the community especially the students on the importance of
keeping the campus clean, healthy, orderly and environment friendly.

Actual implementation was seen. Garbage is a concern of all – in

the classroom, in the garden, in the learning centers, and in the school canteen. Wastes
properly segregated accordingly and disposed into bins designated for the purpose for bio-
degradable (nabubulok), non-biodegradable (hindinabubulok). Such attitude is sustained to
the level of discipline.

It is important therefore to elevate awareness to a point of

discipline that cleanliness is part of our daily lives and culture. Every teacher sees to it that
at the start and end of his/her class the classroom is cleaned and in proper order. Additional
plants and trees were planted in the backyard garden. Weeds were pulled out. Furthermore,
fallen and dry leaves of trees and plants were swept and dumped in one place/corner of the
garden to make the soil more nourished.

It is true that cleanliness and orderliness are basic to every

individual. Through this activity, students keep their relationship with others; thus, it
provides them harmonious teaching-learning relationship.

Truly, Zero Waste Management is the pursuit of aesthetic

beauty that emanates from beautiful surroundings.

ZERO WASTE MANAGEMENT REPORT

September 2015

A pleasant atmosphere generates good thoughts and ideas while

unpleasant surroundings evoke dirty and ugly thoughts. Thus, maintaining the
observance of Zero Waste Management becomes a daily routine of the teachers as
well as the students to achieve the pleasant condition in the school surroundings.

Students helped in maintaining the cleanliness and attractiveness of

the room and the backyard garden. Pupils were grouped and assigned to take turns
in keeping the room and the surroundings neat and orderly. It is a good practice to
spend a few minutes at the end of the class period to clean the chalkboards, to put
materials away, and to see to it the room is in order for the next class.

Undeniably, the said project stimulates pleasant feelings, attitudes,

thoughts, and appreciations essential to learning. The atmosphere absolutely does
a lot to the morale and work of the class .

ZERO WASTE MANAGEMENT REPORT

October 2015

We live in a world where little should go to waste. No one

understands this better than the young minds shaping our world. The Zero Waste
Management Program was still taught to students as part of the cleanliness of the
school, with the help of the teachers who gave additional points for students who
collect trashes from garbage bins and cans

Sacks were displayed and utilized for the non-biodegradable waste to

invite the responsible dumping of food wrappers. Students are regularly reminded
to use the sacks for their non-biodegradable waste that’s why wastes properly
segregated accordingly and disposed into bins designated for the purpose; for bio-
degradable the leaves and other biodegradable are thrown to the pit at the
backyard garden.

The Zero Waste Management Program was a full environmental

service provider. Through this program, students feel a stronger commitment to
continue their efforts and be better environmental stewards each day.

ZERO WASTE MANAGEMENT REPORT

November 2015

Modern customs of the holiday in our school include gift-giving,

church celebrations, the exchange of cards, and the display of various decorations
— including the Christmas tree, lights, mistletoe, nativity scenes, and holly.

School is a place where one can learn so many things. It helps the
students to grow up into a responsible person. Every day the students spend a lot
of time in school for learning and playing.

Recycle bins were placed at various places in schools to promote

recycling of waste among students, teachers and other employees. Children in the
school were encouraged to put waste in appropriate bins so that they develop a
habit of disposing of waste properly.

Concern for energy conservation should compel the last student who
leaves the classroom and all other function rooms to switch off the lights and fans
or air-conditioning units.

Keeping things clean and orderly is important. One can take better care
of her belongings and the school's facilities if she observes order, cleanliness, and
proper stewardship of her environment.

ZERO WASTE MANAGEMENT REPORT

December 2015

Cleanliness is much more than outward appearance. It

is an all-embracing ethic of sound living. It is also a state of mind and heart that
involves our morals and worship. Students would like to see the school provides
a clean school environment for the students to keep them in good health and
safe.

Nowadays, some of our school grounds are full of litter

and debris that they resemble a garbage dump more than a place to play or
exercise.  Students of the English teachers helped them clean and beautiful.
Obviously, they serve as role model for others to keep cleanliness. It’s good that
there are students who industriously keep our surroundings clean; thanks for the
teachers who untiringly remind them to do so.

Advisers and subject teachers’ persistence in

reminding and pushing the students to observe zero waste management became
the daily spice of their life in school.

ZERO WASTE MANAGEMENT REPORT

January 2016

Maintaining the observance of zero waste management became a

daily routine of the teachers and students of the school. Sweeping of the food
wrappers and the fallen leaves, as well as watering the plants since the
season/month is super dry.

Also, the students really took care in using the school properties
such as chairs, tables, duster and chalks properly. They were not throwing the
papers, chalks or any other waste materials in the class rooms and ground, but
instead they put the waste materials in the appropriate dust bin in order to
dispose the waste properly and to keep the class room and school
premises clean. It is also our own responsibility to keep the place around us neat
and clean. As we are already a form four student, therefore we should able to
self-discipline ourselves at any time not to throw.

It only shows that cleanliness, personal hygiene and good

sanitation provides a clean school environment for the students which keep them
in good health.

ZERO WASTE MANAGEMENT REPORT

February 2016

Zero waste management programs in our school were a very

beneficial and a learning experience for those students who contributed to the
cleanliness of school and society at large.

Recycling wastes from the school is also beneficial as school

produced a lot of paper waste. In copier rooms and some of the learning areas,
there is a lot of waste material in form of paper, aluminium cans, and glass
bottles. The waste paper in schools and the waste material produced in the
cafeterias can be recycled utilizing appropriate recycling containers displayed
with recycling decals.

The students’ practice at their home is reflected by how they

cooperate in keeping the cleanliness and orderliness inside the classroom as well
as in the surroundings. It is observed that through the effort of those responsible
students who really try hard to maintain personal hygiene properly as well as to
maintain the toilets clean and hygienic.

at any time. If we don’t then we will need to face number of possible problems.

First of all, the purposes of keeping clean and tidy include health, beauty
absence of disgusting smells and to avoid the spread of dirt from one to another. In the
classroom where nearly forty students learning and sitting together in such small area,
the environment will need to be clean enough. It is because the air inside is breathing
continuously by all of us and the bacteria and virus in the rubbish like tissues used by
the students, packing of the food will stay in the air if they just put rubbish everywhere
inside the classroom. Smell of the food would further attract pests which have potential
danger giving us health problems as pests are usually dirty.

Therefore, it is a good practice that our students were putting the rubbish
or any other used materials inside the dust bin. They don’t pluck the flowers and leaves
from the English garden and avoid using non-recyclable plastic packets and plastic cups.
English garden as well as the backyard garden also caters to student activities such as
performances during song interpretation, drama, poem/choric presentation.

It’s really enjoyable to cater Zero Waste Management since clean

surroundings provide harmonious teaching-learning relationship.
