DEAR STUDENTS

Weall dream about the day when we will crack XYZ examination, when will get a
five-six-digit big salary, travel to all those beautiful places, buy new spacious
house for our parents. Our entire focus is on the success, not the struggle. And it’s
totally understandable — because success is memorable , and everybody wants it,
while the struggle is drab, disagreeable, and unattractive for the general public.
But, it is the effort, struggling, and sticking to your resolutions that shapes you as a
person. Success is a reward for giving your best, but it’s not always within your
control whether and when you get to enjoy it. Whenever you find yourself
discouraged by your lack of success, remind yourself that its not giving-up and
working hard is your real reward. It’s in your hands whether you allow yourself to
see the rewards the struggle generates or ignore them, Whether you mindlessly
see the end result as the sole indicator of success. I failed numerous times in life. I
could have despaired that I had lost so much time and effort and money, but I
hadn’t really failed. I had been true to my values of pursuing the life I wanted. I kept
going, despite the obstacles I constantly encountered along the way. Eventually
my efforts paid off. But even if it would have taken longer to get my results — the
struggle would still have been worth it for the immense changes I underwent on
the journey to pursue my dreams. Eventually my efforts paid off, but even if it had
taken longer to get the results — the struggle would still have been worth it for the
immense changes I underwent on the journey to pursue my dreams.

Rise and Shine.

Solutions:

(1) By applying alligation rule, we get the ratio of c : d = 11

:4

Therefore, d : c = 4 : 11

(2) Let total marks = 100x

42x + 15 = 56x – 20

x = 5/2

Total marks = 250

Pass marks = 105 + 15 = 120

Required marks = 250 – 120 = 130

(3) Ratio of CP: SP: MP = 16 : 18 : 45

29 units – Rs 580

27 units – Rs 540

(4) Ratio of ages before 2 years = 4 : 3

Ratio of ages after 6 years = 5 : 4

1 unit – 8 years

Husband’s present age = 34 years

PAGE 37
CHECKLIST FOR BANK EXAMS 2023 BY AASHISH ARORA
Wife’s present age = 26 years

Husband’s age after 2 years = 36 years

Wife’s age after 2 years = 28 years

Required ratio After 2 yrs = 36 : 28

(5) Ratio of profit = 24:5

24 units – Rs 45000

29 units – Rs 54375

(6) Ratio of X, Y and Z = 10, 15, 9

34 units – 952

1 unit – 28

9 units – 252

Z = 252

(7) Let total boys = 400

Total girls = 300

Boys who don’t like cricket = 280

Girls who don’t like cricket = 240

Required percent = 520/700 * 100% = 74.28%

Required CP = Rs 7400

(9) Time = Interest*100/Principal*Time

Required ratio = 1/1*3 5/2*2 = 1/3 : 5/4 = 4 : 15

(10) Let total distance = 8x km

2x/100 + 3x/60 + x/50 + 2x/40 = 7

x = 50

Required distance = 8*50 = 400 km

(11) Ratio of first, second and third number = 4 : 5 : 6

5 units – 325

2 units – 130

Maximum marks = 400

Cut-off marks = 120

Required difference = 400 – 120 = 280

(13) Required number of ways = 4!*3! = 24 * 6 = 144

(14) Let number of red balls = 4a

Number of blue balls = 3a

Number of yellow balls = 5b

Number of black balls = 2b

Number of white balls = 8a

3a – 2b = 200 ……………………… (1)

8a + 5b = 1050 ……………………. (2)

Solving equations (1) & (2), we get

a = 100

b = 50

Number of white balls = 800

Number of red balls = 400

Required average = 1200/2 = 600

Required ratio = 15 : 4

(16) Let total capacity of tank be 450 units.

Part of the tank filled by P in 1 minute = 15 units

Part of the tank filled by Q in 1 minute = 10 units

Part of the tank filled by P, Q and R filled in 1 minute = 9

units

Part of the tank emptied by R in 1 minute = 16 units

Time taken to empty the tank by R alone = 450/16

minutes.

Required capacity of tank = 450/16 * 32 = 900 litres

(18) Let initial quantity of mixture be 190 units.

Initial milk = 100 units

Initial water = 90 units

Final milk = 118 units

Final water = 72 units

46 units – 115 litres

190 units – 475 litres

Required quantity of mixture = 475 litres

(19) Let total work be 84 units.

P’s one-day work = 3 units

Q’s one-day work = 2 units

Work-done by P and Q together in 8 days = 40 units

Remaining work = 44 units

44 units work done by R in 12 days.
