National Science Day Celebrations at TIFR SUNDAY 26th February 2023

Dear Friends,

National Science Day is celebrated on February 28 th every year. At TIFR, the Tata Institute of
Fundamental Research we’re celebrating National Science Day on SUNDAY February 26, to make it
easier for the public to visit TIFR for a day-long celebration of science at our Colaba campus. We
have a mix of engaging lectures, open laboratories to visit, fun hands-on experiments and demon-
strations etc. From watching expert glass blowers at work to visiting labs doing cutting-edge
research, and from learning about photographing a black hole to how the brain is built, this is a great
opportunity for children and adults to engage with science! We will have a public lecture on radio
astronomy using TIFR’s Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope, the world’s largest such facility in this
wavelength range.

Entry is free and open to all. We recommend lab visits for ages > 8 only. The outdoor activities are
suitable for children of all ages. Children less than 16 years of age MUST be accompanied by a
responsible adult.

We welcome you to join us for a fun day with science!
