Dump Boost

The document provides a description of the dump boost function for a Volvo A60H vehicle. Dump boost uses pump P7 to give faster dumping of the load body. It is activated when engine speed is above 900 rpm and more than 75% of the dump lever is used. Activation involves controlling valves and the pump in a certain order. Dump boost is aborted if certain conditions occur, and is deactivated by returning components to their resting positions in reverse order of activation.

Function description
Pump P7 is used for the Hydraulic Suspension system's (HS) control and for the Dump Boost function which gives faster
dumping of the load body.
To avoid pressure peaks in the system, the solenoid valves are opened in a certain order with delay in relation to start of the
boost pump.
MA9506 controls the flow to the dumping system. The suspension system is prioritized before the dumping system, which
means that when the suspension is controlling/adjusting, Dump Boost is not activated until the control/adjustment of the
suspension is done.

Activating Dump Boost

Dump Boost is activated if the following conditions are fulfilled:

¡ Engine speed is above 900 rpm

¡ No control of suspension system requested
¡ More than 75% lever stroke dumping
Activation order

1. If the pump (P7) is not in resting position, then it is controlled to resting position
2. Solenoid valve MA9506 opens to the steering-dumping valve
3. The dumping slide is controlled to the dumping position by the dump lever
4. P7 is controlled up in flow by PWM9159

Dump Boost is aborted if any of the following occurs

¡ Engine speed below 800 rpm

¡ Control/adjustment of suspension requested
¡ Dump lever stroke less than 65% dump

Deactivation, Dump Boost

1. Dump lever is set to standby position

2. Pump controls down to resting position.
3. MA9506 closes to the steering-dumping valve.
4. If suspension is requested then MA9506 closes immediately to the steering-dumping valve without P7 being controlled
down.

Included components

¡ Hydraulic pump P7 controlled by PWM9159

¡ MA9506 that controls the flow to the steering-dumping valve
¡ MA7601 and MA7603 that control the suspension
