Automobile Industry in India

With a scintillating 2.3 million units produced in 2008 the Indian automobile industry bagged the position of being the ninth largest in the world. Following economic liberalization, Indian domestic automobile companies like Tata Motors Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra and Mahindra expanded their production and export operations in and across the country and since then the industry has only shown signs of growth. The automobile industry comprises of heavy vehicles (trucks, buses, tempos, tractors), passenger cars, and two-wheelers. The Indian automobile industry seems to come a long way since the first car that was manufactured in Mumbai in 1898. The automobile sector today is one of the key sectors of the country contributing majorly to the economy of India. It directly and indirectly provides employment to over 10 million people in the country. The Indian automobile industry has a well established name globally being the second largest two wheeler market in the world, fourth largest commercial vehicle market in the world, and eleventh largest passenger car market in the world and expected to become the third largest automobile market in the world only behind USA and China. Oil Industry in India After the Indian Independence, the Oil Industry in India was a very small one in size and Oil was produced mainly from Assam and the total amount of Oil production was not more than 250,000 tonnes per year . This small amount of production made the oil experts from different countries predict the future of the oil industry as a dull one and also doubted India's ability to search for new oil reserves. But the Government of India declared the Oil industry in India as the core sector industry under the Industrial Policy Resolution bill in the year 1954, which helped the Oil Industry in India vastly. Oil exploration and production in India is done by companies like NOC or National Oil Corporation, ONGC or Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and OIL who are actually the oil companies in India that are owned by the government under the Industrial Policy Rule. The National Oil Corporation during the 1970s used to produce and supply more than 70 percent of the domestic need for the petroleum but by the end of this amount dropped to near about 35 percent. This was because the demand on the one hand was increasing at a good rate and the production was declining at a steady rate.

Early life Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani was born on 28 December 1932, at Chorwad, Junagadh in the state of Gujarat, India, into a Modh family of very moderate means. He was the third son of a school teacher. When he was 16 years old, he moved to Aden, Yemen. Initially Dhirubahi worked as a despatch clerk with A. Besse & Co... Two years later A. Besse & Co. became distributor for Shell products and Dhirubhai was promoted to manage the companys oil-filling station at the port of Aden. He was married to Kokilaben and had two sons and two daughters.

JRD Tata
JRD Tata was one of the most enterprising Indian entrepreneurs. He was a pioneer aviator and built one of the largest industrial houses of India. JRD Tata was born on July 29, 1904 in Paris. His mother was French, while his father was Paris. JRD's full name was Jahangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata and he was popularly known as Jeh to his friends. JRD's father Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata and Sri Jamsetji Tata shared their greatness from the same great-great-grandfather, Ervad Jamsheed Tata, a priest of Navsari.
