2.2 Precautions
 Please operate the system by following the instructions in this manual;
 It is recommended that the interval between power on and power off operations be 5
seconds;
 It is recommended that the Intelligent Optogenetics System should be placed on a flat
surface with better reliability and heat dissipation;
 The system should be kept away from the flammable and explosive conditions;
 The product should be used in a clean, dry and static-free environment;
 Please use a socket or wiring board certified to national safety regulations;
 A voltage stabilizer is recommended if the voltage is unstable;
 Clean finger sets, latex gloves and other insulation devices are necessary when dealing
with optical problems;
 Please contact RWD for consultation in case of any questions during the operation;
 You may also contact the manufacturer for maintenance of components related to the
system;
 Disassembly of the system or replacement of parts can only be performed by
maintenance professionals designated by the manufacturer;
 Please be sure to use the adapter and parts provided by the manufacturer, otherwise
RWD assumes no liability for any consequences caused thereby.
2.3 Safety Instructions
1) Optical safety
 Wear proper goggles. Although the goggles can protect the eyesight, the operator
should not look directly at the laser light source when wearing them;
 Set up a control area in the position where the system is easy to mark to ensure that
the appropriate warning signs are visible;
 Ensure there are staff on site when the system is running;
 It is necessary to use the system in the company of experienced professionals. If it
is not used, the system should be shut down completely and restricted from
unauthorized personnel.
2) Electrical safety
 Turn off the power switch first and then disconnect main power when the device is
not use;
 Take out the power adapter and keep it with the device when putting the device in
storage;
 Professionals knowing about the operation of electrical device must be present
during operation;
 Please keep a certain distance from the adapter to prevent personal injury caused
by electric shock when the electrical device is running.

2.4 Laser Class —— ClassⅢB

A Class Ⅲ B laser is a continuous-wave (CW) laser of 5 - 500 mW, which is dangerous
to the eyes when looking directly into the beam. It is generally safe to observe under diffuse
reflection. When the beam is focused, it may cause minor skin damage or even pose a risk of
igniting inflammable materials. When the true diffuse reflection of visible radiation is observed
for longer than 10s, if the distance between the diffuse reflection surface and the cornea is less
than 13cm, it is still possible to cause eye injury. It is recommended to wear suitable laser
protective glasses when using this type of laser.

8 –Cleaning and Maintenance
8.1 Clean the optical fiber
 Please clean fiber with professional tools——such as cassette fiber cleaner;
 if without professional tools,anhydrous alcohol, tampons, lens paper must be
prepared, methods as below:
1) Hold one tampon in hand, and drop moderate anhydrous alcohol on it;
2) Wipe the end face with a tampon wet by anhydrous alcohol in the same
direction;
3) Gently wipe the end face with lens paper in the same direction until the alcohol
dry and the optical fiber end face clean enough;
4) Check that whether the reflectance of each position of the end face is good and
whether there is any residual fiber debris on the end face. Repeat steps 1-3
above if necessary.

8.2 Machine Cleaning

 Recommended cleaning agents:
1) 75% alcohol.
2) Clearwater.
 Cleaning method:
3) Turn off the power and unplug connection cables;
4) Use a soft and clean lint-free cloth to absorb an appropriate amount of cleaning
agent and wipe the outer surface of the device, connection lines, etc, until there
is no visible dirt residue;
5) After cleaning, use a clean cloth or paper towel to wipe away any residual
detergent;
6) Finally, place the device in a ventilated and cool place to air dry.

Attention

1) Disconnect from the power source before cleaning;

2) Do not use corrosive chemicals or rags to wipe the surface of the device and
connection lines;
3) Prevent liquid from penetrating into the inside of the device, which may affect
the performance and safety of the device.
8.3 Disinfection
 Recommended disinfection method:
1) 75% alcohol surface disinfection.
2) UV irradiation disinfection.
 75% alcohol surface disinfection method:
1) Turn off the power and unplug connection cables;
2) Use a soft and clean lint-free cloth to absorb an appropriate amount of 75%
alcohol, and wipe the outer surface of the device, connecting wires, etc.;
3) When necessary, use a dry cloth to wipe away any residual alcohol;
4) Finally, place the device in a ventilated and cool place to air dry.
