I am directed to refer to the Department of Revenue, Central Board of Direct Taxes


F.No. C-1RU13/95/2014-V&L dated 5, March, 2015 (copy enclosed) on the above subject
and to say that the question of extending the benefit of two advance increments to Senior
Tax Assistants and Stenographers Grade-I on passing the Departmental Examination for
Income Tax Inspectors was under consideration.
2. Consequent upon the order passed by the various Tribunals and Courts in the above
matter and the opinion provided by DoPT and DoLA on the issue, the matter relating to
grant of two advance increments to the cadres of Senior Tax Assistants and Stenographers
grade-I (eritwhile stenographers Grade-II in the pre-revised scale of Rs 5000-8000) on
passing the Departmental Examination for Inspectors may henceforth be regulated as
under.
"It has been decided by the competent authority to extend the benefit of two advance
increments to the cadres of Senior Tax Assistants and Stenographers grade-I (erstwhile
stenographers Grade-II in the pre-revised scale of Rs 5000-8000) on passing the
Departmental Examination for Income Tax Inspectors "
