PICPA ACCOUNTING QUIZ BOWL 2022

At 8:30 AM, the delegates together with the adviser Mr. Ronnie
Joseph Odulio, CPA arrived at the Republic Central Colleges. The
registration started as soon as they entered the venue. At 9:30
AM, the program had started with the welcoming message from
The Regional Council Adviser, Mr. Conrad Allan M. Alviz, CPA,
CISA, CIA, CSRS, CMPC. The event had proceeded with the
opening remarks from the Regional Council President, Jomari G.
Vasallo.

Another objective of the 1 REBM was to inform the Local Chapters with the upcoming events and
scheduled dates to be expected for the whole Federation Year. This was achieved during the discussion
of General Plan of Action made by the Regional Vice President for Academics, Alnia Bautista and
Regional Vice President for Non-Academics, Dilah Mariz Martin.
The event also offered a company talk from one of the sponsor company, SGV & Co. that was given by
the Regional Council Adviser as well, Mr. Conrad Allan M. Alviz, CPA, CISA, CIA, CSRS, CMPC.
To give the delegates a break from the discussions, the Regional Vice President for Communications,
Mykee Allyana Santiago and Regional Vice President for Audit, Kristan John Zerna gave an
intermission number.
Another objective of the REBM was to discuss the IRRs and related documents from the
different departments and this was achieved with the following discussions led by the Regional
Council Officers. For the Secretariat Department, it was discussed by Patricia Espino, Regional
Secretary General. For the Audit Department, it was discussed by Kristan John Zerna, Regional Vice
President for Audit. For the Graphics and Publication, it was discussed by Michael Angelo G.
Aleman, the Regional Vice President for Graphics and Publication. In the Communications
Department, it was discussed by Mykee Allyana Santiago, the Regional Vice President for
Communications. For the Membership Department, it was discussed by Jhon Ryan De Vera, Regional
Vice President for Membership. The Finance Department was discussed by Jomari Vasallo, Regional
Council President.
After the Discussion of IRRs and Related Documents, the

teaser for the upcoming 5 Youth Empowerment Summit
was shown. It was followed by another intermission
number given by the Regional Council.
Thirdly,
The third speaker is Mr. Rhens Rio Emil Guevarra, whose topic is "Improving and Managing
Productivity in a Hybrid Work Environment." What struck me was the reality that the future is hybrid,
which promotes employee productivity and eliminates the fear that others will judge you because they
will not. It was then followed by an open forum and certificate presentation.
Another seminar was given by Mr. Cedric R. Calumpong which gave emphasis on “"The Role
of Student's Rights and Welfare in Nation Building". He finished his talk leaving this remarkable
quotation, “Be adaptable in any direction or position”.
The first day ended with the teaser video of the P.E.D.A.G.O.G.Y and the discussion of
guidelines in the Feature Writing Competition that can be participated by the JPIA Members.
On the third day of technical sessions, it focused on the Outreach Program Planning with the
title “Potrof’s Flowering Amity”. The speaker on this technical session was Mr. Lloyd Salazar and
Mr. Jose. The representatives were Vince Hawlence Santiago,
Vice President for Membership; Jonard Jay Miranda, Vice President for Communications; Leeyuen
Aquino, Associate for Public Relations; and Ronalie Manansala, Associate for Membership.
Following the technical session for outreach, the technical session for Graphics and Publication
entitled, “Sarado’s Extraterrestrial Portrait,” in which guest
speakers, Miss Catherine D. Castillo, gave tips on how to produce
an appealing but informative posters and other types of
publication. Attendees of this session were Regine Ann Badiola,
Vice President for Graphics and Publication and Gabrielle Odonio
Associate for Graphics and Publication.
The quick-witted
participants took part
in the Academic Cup
Series which includes
Basic
Accounting (BA) Cup; Financial, Accounting and Reporting
(FAR) Cup and Management Advisory Services (MAS) Cup.
The purpose of this event was for the participants to show
their understanding of accounting in order to better prepare
for the CPA Licensure Examination.
Wesleyan University-Philippines and numerous other
institutions from region 3 participated in the above
mentioned event.
Hamish Famirasan, a
first-year accountancy student, participated in the BA Cup. Bea
Bianca Villaflor, Emerald Leanne De Torres, Ginno Ace
Trinidad, Nichole Gabriel, Mark Lester Matias, and Ayen
Alecksandra Cada, all second-year accounting students, are
the participants for the Far Cup. However, the participants in
the MAS Cup were unable to attend the event due to unforeseen
circumstances.
The speakers, Mr. Robert Carl Arrojo, CPA, and Mr. Vhinson Jay
Garcia, CPA, the pride of Wesleyan University-Philippines, had
the chance to offer words of encouragement to the
participants.
WU-P PARTNERSHIP FORUM SERIES:
STRENGTHENING LINKAGES AND EXPANDING
ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIES WITH EUROPEAN
UNION

Prof. Glenn Lubuguin, the Vice President for Planning and Development, delivered the opening
remarks. He noted that the seminar's purpose is to increase the advantages and benefits of our
growing linkages. Following the opening remarks, the University President, Judge Benjamin
Turgano (Ret.), was called to formally introduce the guest speaker, who turned out to be Dr. Ana
Isabel Sánchez Ruiz, the Deputy Head of Delegation for the European Union Delegation to the
Philippines. Before the guest speaker's talk, the University's President also shared that the seminar
is the university's initiative to achieve international connections and competency since Wesleyan
University – Philippines has been the regional hub partner for European Higher Education Fair.
Following the presentation, there was an opportunity for participants to ask more questions to the
guest speaker and engage in further conversation with them. This took place during an open forum.
The conference came to a close with a performance by Wesleyan Chambers and included a photo
opportunity with the guest speaker.
Teachers’ Day Celebration

The celebration officially started with an opening prayer followed by the singing of the
national anthem. Appreciation to the teachers was given through reading anonymous letters from
the CBA students to their chosen professors. After the heartwarming letter reading, a video
presentation was played wherein it contained a message filmed by the 1st year to 4th year block
chairmen of BS Accountancy, BS Management Accounting, BSBA Major in Marketing Management,
and, BSBA Major in Financial Management led by their respective organizations.
The host introduced the 1st speaker of the event, which is the
NFJPIA R3 Local Council President, Jomari G. Vasallo. He
discussed a brief introduction to the NFJPIA and NFJPIA R3, the
federation logo and its meaning, goals, and lastly, the
introduction of the regional council. His segment ended with the
awarding of a certificate of appreciation and photo opportunity
with the WUP-JPIA and the rest of the BSA 1st year students.
The last part of the program which is the Awarding and Closing remarks started at 7:00 pm. It was
started with opening remarks by the National Council Adviser, Conrad Allan M. Alviz, CPA, CISA,
CIA, CSRI, CMPC. He thanked each and every participant of the 3rd Samuel Misa Cup especially the
National, Regional, and Local council of JPIA. After the opening remarks, the hosts conducted a Roll
Call of every region participants. After the roll call, the awarding of the Academic events started
from Academic Chronicle volume 1 to volume 6 followed by
the awarding of winners of Nearest PAR. It was followed by the
awarding of Non-Academic events starting from Who Wants
to be a Meallionaire followed by the blind item wherein Region
3 Team 2 was awarded 5th place and two of Wesleyan
University-Philippines and WUP-JPIA’s pride namely Jan
Allyssa B. San Pedro our WUP-JPIA Secretary General and John
Gabrielle P. Odonio our Associate for Graphics and Publication
were a part of the team. After the awarding of the
Non-Academic events, an appreciation message was given by
the NFJPIA VP for Academics, Christine Joy T. Dalodalo, and
NFJPIA VP for Non-Academics, Nikko Aljon R. De Jesus
followed by the awarding of Overall champions for Non-
Academics wherein the Region 3 was awarded as 1st place, and
awarding of Overall Winners. To officially close the event, the
Project head, and NFJPIA Secretary General, Kate Margarette D. Egamao gave her closing remarks.

UTMOST EXCELLENCE

Lastly, in the talk of Mr. Rodrigo D. Casiano, Jr., MBA, CPA, CMA, CSCA, CIA, CRMA, CLYSSB,
he highlighted the words “You can start small. It’s about the future, not about the past.” With this,
he noted that the things that a person do now, is something that should focus on the future and
must not be affected by what happened in the past.
Regulatory Framework for Business Transactions and Financial Accounting and Reporting

Compact as a tornado, the warriors come
to blows with full strength and valor all the way
to the place of the Bulldogs of the North. Nirun
Mag-isa won 2nd Place in Advanced Financial
Accounting and Reporting Cup and 3rd Place in
Auditing Cup. In the Management Advisory
Services, Ella May Antonio was able to place 4th.
The 2022 Regional Competitive Accounting Quiz held on November 11, 2022 at Don Honorio
Ventura State University, Bacolor, Pampanga aims to achieve academic excellence in the field of
Accountancy and promote camaraderie among the participants from different schools in the
Central Luzon Region.
At 8:00 am, the program began with welcoming remarks given by the PICPA Pampanga
Chapter President, Mr. Jeffrey M. Tolentino. Shortly after, the technical sessions began. The
Technical sessions were about the Updates on the State of the
Accountancy Education in Central Luzon, which was given by Dr.
Jo Anne Gamboa, CHED RO3 Education Supervisor II; Xero and its
Ecosystem: Sustaining the Global Practice and Future of the
Accountancy Profession by Mr. Jaypee V. Lagman, CPA, CrFA;
VUCA and BANI: Implications in the Accounting Profession and
Academe by Prof. Nide Marie S. Bombay; Planning, Designing,
and Assessing the Learning Plan and Outcomes in Hybrid
Learning Evnvironment by Dr. Roberto C. Dacanay, CPA, and;
FRSRSC Updates and Teaching Strategies for Conceptual Framework for Financial Reporting by
Dean Ester F. Ledesma, CPA.
The Level 1 and Level 2 category of the Regional Competitive Accounting Quiz was conducted
simultaneously. The competition was a board exam type where the participants were given a test
paper with 10 questions per round. The participants were given a time limit depending on the
difficulty of each round.
In the end, Ms. Louie Ann Dizon of General De Jesus College won 1st place for the Level 1
category, while Anne Sanchez of Don Honorio Ventura State University and Lyca Bautista of
PUP-Bataan won 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Furthermore, the champion for the Level 2
category was RG Empalamado of Bulacan State Univeristy, 2nd place was John Daniel Huet of
Mabalacat City College, and 3rd place was Patrick Valiemento of Baliwag Polytechnic University.
15th National Accounting Quiz Showdown

As the program had officially started, Mr. Conrad Allan M. Alviz, the regional adviser, had given his
welcoming remarks and expressed his gratitude to everyone who attended the 2nd REBM. Following
this was the opening remarks given by the regional council president, Mr. Jomari G. Vasallo. With
the welcoming and opening remarks, the program proceeded to the introduction of the guest
speaker. The said speaker is the national council president of NFJPIA, Vicente L. Quimbo Jr. He
inspired all of the officers as he shared his journey on how he became the council president. Indeed,
there were a lot of detours along the way but surely, one will always find his way on where he truly
belongs. His share of story about his determination fueled up the event and inspired all the officers
present in the meeting to pursue what they want and to keep the fire burning in their hearts.
Finishing off with the inspirational message, it was immediately followed by the
introduction of the second batch of regional chief associates. Following the program, the company
talk was led by Sir Wency Medina Giron, a chief executive officer from REO and a reviewer,
expounding what REO is and its legacy over the years as one of the leading review centers in the
country. He also showed some of the passers from REO who have become an inspiration to all other
aspiring CPAs. With his generosity, he also conducted a raffle game before ending his message.
After the talks by the guests, there was an intermission number presented by the regional chief
associates imparting a
recorded lively dance that everyone enjoyed. The
program immediately proceeded to the departmental
discussion starting with the secretariat department
led by the Regional Secretary General, Patricia J.
Espino, who shared her knowledge upon emails and
safekeeping files. It was followed by the Regional Vice
President for Audit, Kristan John C. Zerna, who
discussed all about the audit department and its
procedures. Next to discuss was the Regional Vice President for Graphics and Publications, Michael
Angelo G. Aleman, who expressed his admiration to his fellow officers from local chapters around
the region for their astounding creativity in making their publication materials.
One of the most-awaited part of the program had eventually come, which was the presentation of
the 26th Regional Mid-Year Convention (RMYC) by the Regional Council President. This event was
one of the highlights of the federation year of JPIA. Together with other executive officers, they
revealed some of the details pertaining to the
date and place of the event, registration fee, as
well as the inclusions of the said fee. Along with
this, the non-academics and academics
department discussed the non-academic and
academic events that will be conducted in the
said upcoming event. This will be held as a
face-to-face event after two consecutive years of
conducting it online due to the pandemic.
The program had ended successfully around 6:00 PM and closed it by singing the paragons. Before
proceeding with the closed-door meeting, there was a photo opportunity with everyone in the who
attended the event for commemoration of the 2nd Regional Executive Board Meeting. The
closed-door meeting immediately followed the closing program where all the Local Chapter
Presidents were gathered for a separate meeting the Regional Council President. With this, there
was a question and answer with the presidents about the details in the upcoming event, the 26th
RMYC. These were all answered and discussed by Mr. Jomari G. Vasallo. The event concluded after
the closed-door meeting and all local chapters who have attended the event surely gathered tons of
knowledge and information that expand their experience especially being a part of the executive
officers in the happiest region, Region 3.
European Higher Education Fair 2022

To formally greet and begin the Fair, a few words were shared by H.E.
Luc Veron, EU Ambassador to the Philippines. He talked about how
this was not only an opportunity to open doors to the Philippine
student community, but also as a way to strengthen ties between the
EU and the Philippines. By stressing on this year’s theme, “Youth for
Excellence and Innovation”, he further explains that this Fair also is
organized with the purpose of emphasizing 2022 as EU’s
International Year of the Youth. “We are focused on enabling the
youth to be ready for innovation and to help build a better future–
greener, more inclusive, and digital,” Veron said.
Headed by the project head Ms. Aillen M. Criazo and her project co-head Ms. Divine Jersie V.
Iliw-Iliw, NFJPIA organized a series of webinars on the following topics in order to further the
National Council's goal of enhancing and strengthening the excellent auditing knowledge and
abilities from all over the nation to the auditors' realm: Career in Audit: Preparing Students for the
Future of Work, and Audit Planning: Knowing How to Create the Right Audit Plan and Processes.
The speaker in the event, Mr. John Christian Dizon, CPA and Mr. Francis Lloyd Galuza, CTT, CPA had
the chance to talk to share some tips and discuss the quiz bee’s
questions for the better understanding of the participants.
WU-P JPIA Joins CBA Building Clean Up Drive
Campaign 2022

After cleaning the designated areas of the minor organizations, sir Jelwin D.L. Bautista, CPA,
MBA, presided a meeting to make some announcement to the officers. The meeting was short yet
very inspiring. It also addressed the queries and concerns of the officers regarding the
organizational works. To sum up, the clean up drive project was successful and productive.

Testimonial Night 2022

On December 9, 2022, the WU-P JPIA Fordiencia Federation brought happiness and gifts for their
brethren in the Brgy. Bakod Bayan, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. It may be remembered that from
the past federation, they also visited this place to give gifts to the residences.
The event ended with the giving of grocery packages for the children and clothes that came from the
joint donations of the BSA students and other CBA students. The grocery packages included canned
goods, instant noodles, spaghetti set, coffee, and milk.
Through the hearts that beat for helping, the
brains that planned this event, and the hands that
offered goodness, more than 70 families were
reached by the donations. Indeed, the
organization has traveled extra miles to draw
smiles.
Summing up the whole theme of the event, just as
how San Pedro constructed it, “more than the
bounty food we place on our tables and sparkling
lights that catch our eyes, let us not forget the
greatest gift we have received, and that is the
coming of Jesus —our Savior.”
1ST AUDIT CONVENTION

Still on December 12, the last day of the event, the judges on each category assessed the
performance shown by each participant. To close the events, they have hailed those who shone
throughout the whole journey of the 1st Audit Convention:
acknowledging the winners. The WUP-JPIA had claimed
the 3rd place for the overall champion in the
non-academics department having winners in the
infographics and AUDIThings categories. The WUP-JPIA
almost dominated the infographics competition by
winning the 2nd and 3rd place by Ms. Regine Ann Badiola
and Mr. Jonard Jay Miranda, respectively, while in
AUDIThings competition, Ms. Jan Allyssa B. San Pedro
claimed the 1st place. After the awarding of winners, the
event has been concluded and officially ended on its
fourth day. This event is partnered with REO CPA Review,
SGV, P&A Grant Thornton, Insights, and Deloitte.
Regional Business Conference

The program continued with Mr. Dennis Franco M. Layug again on the stage. He engaged with Mr.
Peralta and talked about giving the WU-P Students free training. Mr. Layug discussed the skills they
need in their company. He also discussed Robotics Process Automation wherein he mentioned that
their accountants are doing something else than usual. He also enumerated the different programs
that can be certified. He also left a quotation that says “Aim for the sky, not for the tree” to
motivate the audience. The event ended with the singing of the WU-P Hymn and Picture-Taking of
the students with the Speakers, CBA Faculty, and The Associate Dean.
1ST R3JPIAN GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND LOCAL
CHAPTER OFFICERS’ BOOT CAMP

The program proceeded with the continuation of the game “Survey Says” wherein the winners are
Ms. Sandra Me Cajugao, Ms. Denice Nicole Dimantaga, Ms. Redgine Domingo, Ms. Leslie Relator,
and Ms. Adelline Ngo. Followed by an Intermission Number by Mr. Rodel Valeroso. After that, a
game entitled “Name the tune” was played wherein the
chosen JPIA officers will sing the tune of an OPM song
using an animal sound and the participants need to guess
the title of the song. The winners of this game are Mr.
Antonio Romero Jr., Ms. Shaira Nicole Doktor, Ms. Regina
Cabuhay, Ms. Kim Paula Catolico, and Ms. Adelline Ngo.
And for the last game, the 2nd Batch of Emoji Bingo Game
Blackout was made wherein Ms. Allyssa Gabrielle Castillo
won. To formally end the event, a closing remark was given
by the WU-P JPIA Mayor, Sophia Nicole Dela Cruz.
2nd Annual Welcoming Event

On the first day, the event strated with some games for the JPIAns
to participate. The first game was a JPIAn Bingo followed by JPIAn
Feud, Mobile Legends Bang Bang: Wolf in Combat and, Picture,
Literature, and video presentation wherein all the entries for the
said contests were presented to be watched by all of the JPIAns.
As the program continues, an intermission number was performed by Mr. Jericho Libardo and Ms.
Joyce Anne Garduque. After the intermission number, an ice breaker game entitled “Type it
Warriors” was played wherein the paartcipants wherein the participants need to copy the word with
unusual spelling and comment it on the comment section.
