WEEK 1 JOURNAL

WEEK 1 – FEB.13- FEB 17, 2023

Day 1
Narrative about the teaching internship
- First day of internship is that we were endorsed by our Department Chair to the Principal of
Highway Hills Integrated School. After arriving there and all the formalities finished, different
subject heads were introduced and briefed us about our designations. I was yet again placed in
Grade 9 Economics; it wasn’t my cup of tea but I had to pick it rather than to see my mate who
hasn’t experienced teaching it struggle along the way.
Reflection for the day – 1 paragraph
- So far, everything looks promising in terms of internship purposes. My cooperating teacher
whose name is Ma’am Jean Escorpiso was a good one but also strict on the flip side, it was just a
nature of veteran teachers to have an intimidating behaviour in order to stamp their authority
within the class or else the students will not take the teacher seriously every time they are on a
lesson.

Day 2
Narrative about the teaching internship
- Second day into my internship, I was told by Ma’am Escorpiso, my cooperating teacher to
observe for a few weeks before I can start teaching away. It was obviously the norm because I’m
new and just getting started to grasp everything about how a public school works and its
classroom routines every day. I’m also glad to have a partner again who is willing to help when I
need one.
Reflection for the day – 1 paragraph
- Coming back in a public school brings me memories. Why? It is because I am a product of public
school for six years and obviously that got me excited upon hearing that we’re going to do our
internship in a public school. There’s also a big jump from observing in JRU’s Junior High School
Division and into Highway Hills Integrated School, it’s the language medium. English language is
utilized in JRU while Filipino is always observed and practiced in Highway Hills Integrated School.
I can speak both languages but I feel comfortable speaking in Filipino all the time.

Day 3
Narrative about the teaching internship
- It is already the third day and so far nothing too shabby is happening at the moment. Like
always, I got up early to prepare for breakfast and bath. After all of it, I left early for school, got
there before 6:00 am, had some meaningful talks with my mates, and went to our first class
after the first bell rang at 6:30.
Reflection for the day – 1 paragraph
- This kind of routines are typical for me because it’s just like another day at the office kind of
thing and nothing new. I chose to be in the morning shift because I’m much efficient being with
the daylight, although a portion of myself is still asleep. I wanted to be an afternoon shift intern
but that is only going to make my load too heavy to carry, that’s why morning is the best option.

Day 4
Narrative about the teaching internship
- This is the day where I was asked by my cooperating teacher Ma’am Escorpiso to start encoding
the scores of my soon to be handled sections. At first, I was surprised to hear it from her but
nevertheless that got me pumped up and excited to gladly accept the first of many
responsibilities as a teacher.
Reflection for the day – 1 paragraph
- It got me a slight chill and nervousness but it was a good one anyways, and it’s been a lifetime
since I’ve used the Microsoft Excel for encoding purposes, so for me it was an opportunity to
show Ma’am Escorpiso my capability when it comes to computing the grades of her students via
Microsoft Excel without screwing up in my first ride.

Day 5:
Narrative about the teaching internship
- It’s the second day of 2ND Quarter Examinations and I get to facilitate Ma’am Escorpiso’s advisory
class in terms of handing out the test papers per group and making sure that they’re not making
any unnecessary noises while taking the exams. After securing them a test paper per student, I
went outside the room and watched from the windows while continuing my encoding of scores.
Reflection for the day – 1 paragraph
- It’s another exciting day for me to know that I am being entrusting of another responsibility as a
student-teacher to facilitate the class during the examinations. I got a training back then in JRU’s
JHS, but it was only for a matter of days because that I only have 10 days tops to teach my topic
before their exams approaches. So for me it was a good breath of fresh air again to be
facilitating a classroom.
