4. DEBUTANT’S GRAND ENTRANCE

Tonight is a celebration of adulthood and a thanksgiving of the life God has given
to our lovely celebrant. Let us put our hands together, as we welcome the main
highlight of this celebration, and as she stepped into a higher level of life, ladies
and gentlemen, our debutant, Haniya Lorraine Gorias . Let’s give her a big round
of applause.

5. OPENING REMARKS
Evidently, before tonight, Haniya has happy years in a very happy home. The love
of a family will always be God’s greatest blessing. Sabi nga nila, in life we can have
several friends, classmates, and social circles, but there is only one family who is
always willing and ready to welcome us no matter what. Ladies and gentlemen,
here’s Lorena Gorias to welcome all of us to their lovely daughter’s 18th birthday
party.

(Welcome Remarks........)

ALJON: Thank you Ante Lorena for that wonderful message. All of you who are
here tonight have watched our debutant grow over the years into the wonderful
person she is now. She is now a real lady as she stepped onto the much higher
level of what we call LIFE.

6. EATING DINNER
We are nearing the most awaited part of the evening, dinner…. But before we
partake of the sumptuous buffet that Gorias Family has provided us, may we now
call Mrs. Patrocinia Cadunga for a prayer. After the dinner, the family would like
to request everybody to please remain for a while for the continuation of our
program. Thank you

DINNER………

7. 18 ROSES

The 18 roses signify the debutant’s coming of age. We have now come to the part
of our program that the guys have been waiting for. A chance to hold the hand of
our lovely debutant for a short dance so let us not keep them waiting. Each
bachelor after giving ERYL a rose will dance with her for about 1 minute with the
background music dedicated by each guy to the debutant. Ladies and gentlemen,
the 18 roses with our beautiful debutant. Starting off with:
(enumerate list of 18 roses)

8. 18 CANDLES
Where there is great love, there are always wishes.” Because birthdays are always
new beginnings, new endeavors with new set of goals, sending birthday messages
and wishes is a tradition especially in our country, where we give high value to
family ties and relationship. Tonight, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you these
18Wishers for our debutant. These are the people close to the heart of our
celebrant, and whom she listens and confides to for inspiring words and friendly
advices. Of course these people will be the ones who will give her advices and
kind words along the way on how to become a perfect woman. Starting off with:

(enumerate list of 18 candles)

Many ancient cultures believed that smoke carried their prayers to the
heavens. So, at the count of three, members of the 18 candles, let’s say “MAY ALL
OUR WISHES COME TRUE” and blow our candles together. 1, 2, and 3…
(Everybody blows the candle)

12. FATHER AND DAUGHTER DANCE

ADRIAN: Let us now proceed to the most important part of this should we call it
rituals of turning 18? Let us now acknowledge one of the most loved and
important persons in ERYL’S life. This time to dance with her, let’s welcome her
father.... SPO EMMANUEL A. VENTURA

ALJON: (In the middle of the father and daughter dance.) The father and daughter
dance is probably one of the most loved traditions in any Filipino debut
celebration. This signifies the daughter’s first step to womanhood and the father’s
acceptance of this period in his daughter’s life.

SINGING OF THE TRADITIONAL BIRTHDAY SONG:

Let me share another good-to-know trivia to everyone on how birthday cakes and
candles came about as a tradition during birthdays. Some believe that the
tradition of birthday candles began in Ancient Greece. Putting candles on a cake
was a special way to pay tribute to the Greek moon goddess, Artemis. They baked
round cakes to symbolize the moon. Candles were added to represent the
reflected moonlight. Today’s tradition of making wishes before blowing out the
birthday candles may have started with that belief. Enough of all those did-you-
know trivia because at this part of the program, our lovely and stunning haniya
will blow the candles on her birthday cake. And to complete that customary
practice, let us all sing joyfully a song I am very sure everybody is familiar with,
the happy birthday song!

18. BLOWING OF THE CANDLE AND CUTTING OF THE CAKE

( leads the singing of happy birthday song) Let’s give 18 claps for Haniya. Thank
you very much. You can now blow your 18 candles and make a wish. It is now
time to cut the cake. As she has reached the maturity, she will now cut the cake
and give a portion to her parents as a symbol of her love and gratefulness to
them.

And with that our program has officially concluded. We would like to thank you all
for making it to this wonderful celebration of Haniya’S 18th birthday.

For those who are going home, may god bless you, be safe everyone. And for
those who are staying, the night is still young and the floor is now open for
dancing.

This is your host MAY ANN VARGAS, enjoy the rest of the night everyone!.
Thank you and have a blessed night.
