In an effort to limit the spread of the virus and reduce the number of infections, many
countries have temporarily closed their schools (Tria, 2020). Teachers and students in
the Philippines are unable to meet face-to-face because of the covid-19 outbreak. The
Department of Education implemented modular distance learning in order to ensure the
continuity of education and to meet the goals and visions of every school in order to
provide quality education to every Filipino learner. In distance learning, a teacher and
students who are not in the same location at the same time are able to learn together.
Online Distance Learning (ODL) and TV/Radio-Based Instruction are the other two
types of this modality. in the year 2020.
Baesa Adventist Academy, a Seventh Day Adventist school in Baesa, Caloocan City,
provided the data for the study. Among the four academies managed by the Central
Luzon Conference, which governs Metro Manila and Central Luzon, is the BAA. In
1967, this school was established. BAA, despite being run by a religious organization,
does not discriminate against students and accepts people from all walks of life.
It is Baesa Adventist Academy's primary goal and mission to educate and hone the
students' skills so that they can be prepared for the future and still teach their students
the importance of Christian values and morals.
At least two sections are provided for each grade level in BAA's Junior and Senior High
Schools. It took place during the school year 2021-2022. As for this school year they
have 378 enrolled students and 18 teachers.
In the Philippine educational system, modular learning has become the new normal. A
module is a unit, part, subject, or portion of guidance, according to researchers. A
typical module response time is seven days, but this can vary depending on the content
and the style of the instructor. Using a module as a guide helps students navigate the
internet-based learning environment, which is especially important in online classes. In
this study, researchers were interested in finding out what kinds of problems students
encountered in their courses. Students' preferences for traditional over modular
education are also explored in this study. The purpose of this study is to gain insight into
the mindsets of the respondents and how their modular strategies fit into the new
normal.
Students- Research entitled Modular Learning Engagement in Filipino Under the New
Normal helps students focus on perspectives that may influence their learning as they
set out for current showings using modular learning.
Educators- One, it gives educators the tools they need to figure out what the problem is
in a school and then figure out how to fix it in a systematic way (Hine, 2013). Two, it
provides educators with an opportunity to self-assess their teaching methods (Hong &
Lawrence, 2011). Three, it provides teachers with the opportunity to alter their
pedagogical methods in a way that benefits students and students' learning (Mahani,
2012). Teachers' lifelong learning and professional development can be greatly
improved by using this method (Cain & Milovic, 2010; Ulla, Barrera & Acompanado,
2017).
Teaching methods that encourage active learning between students and faculty can
help students gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter as well as provide
opportunities for students to collaborate with faculty on community-based research
projects.
Finally, this research helps our curriculum be more effective because it reveals the
challenges students face in their studies, and we can guide them better through
recommendations to help students in their academics, so that no student is left behind.

Research Question # 1
Innovation: Restructure modular content. If possible, use illustration/images.
Intervention: There should be a seminar with models to be presented.
Strategies: Teachers must have workshop to be done with expert in making modular
content.
Research Question # 2
Innovation: Restructuring the home learning environment of the students.
Intervention: Parent and Teacher must have meeting.
Strategies: Make reward for family that complies to the ideal home learning
environment for students.
Research Question #3
Innovation: The teacher must have consulting process that will lead to progress.
The purpose of a teaching observation and consultation is to help you become a more
reflective and intentional teacher. By observing one of your class sessions, your
consultant will be able to discuss your teaching with you in very concrete ways.
Your consultant will help you reflect on the teaching choices you made during the class
session and on your understanding of your students and their learning. Your consultant
will also help you generate ideas for different teaching choices you might make in the
future to help you more effectively meet your teaching objectives. Moreover, your
consultant will be able to get a sense of your class as a student might see it and share
that perspective with you.
Intervention: By being more approachable, you encourage your children to ask
questions which opens lines of communication in your classroom. Furthermore, you’re
showing your students that you’re passionate about what you’re teaching them and how
they learn from your lessons. They, in turn, can feel more committed to their curriculum
which can lead to higher test scores.
Strategies: Schedule an online consultation/ interaction with the students.
Research Question #4
Innovation: Teachers can experience a sense of accomplishment from each completed
batch. Most important of all, teach them respect for other people’s time. Whether it be
someone you have an appointment with, your family members, friends, work, co-op,
church classes, or a date, you don’t make them wait for you. It shows a lack of respect
for their time and their preparation and shows that you don’t care.
Intervention: Avoid “loaded” procrastination
According to Pinell, teachers find it more efficient to break up grading materials into
small groups that are graded each day than to work on grading the work of the entire
class on the same day. Avoid piling on loads of grading assignments and try to knock
out batches at a time. A small pile each day is easier to manage and allows a teacher to
properly evaluate the assignment and offer feedback to students.
Strategies: Give expanded opportunity. Help them keep track of what they need to get
done. It might be for each day or week, however your household does things with
schoolwork, etc. If lists help, teach them how to make a list. If a schedule is what works,
show them how to keep track of it. This is a process.

ACTION RESEARCH METHOD
Research design
Action research design is educational research involving collecting information
regarding current educational programs and outcomes, analyzing the
information, developing a plan to improve it, collecting changes after a new plan
is implemented, and developing conclusions regarding the improvements. The
main purpose of action research is to improve educational programs within
schools. The four main types of action research design are individual research,
collaborative research, school-wide research, and district-wide research.

PLANS FOR DISSEMINATION AND UTILIZATION
1. The researchers will go to BAESA Adventist Academy and seek permission to the
principal by signing the letter provided.
2. The adviser choose students as respondents to the research.
3. Researchers will conduct interviews for grade 8 students at BAESA ACADEMY.
4. One by one will go to room for interview.
5. Every answer will be recorded and compile in one folder.
