This session guide is for a PATHFIT 2 (Fitness) class focusing on Tai Chi Chuan. Students will work in small groups to rehearse and refine their midterm choreography applying the basic steps and performance skills taught in class. The teacher will lead a warm-up and review the 8 basic forms of Tai Chi Chuan. Students will then have 15 minutes for their groups to finalize routines for the midterm exam while being observed. The teacher will provide feedback and suggestions as groups perform their choreography to help further develop their dances.

Content: Tai Chi Chuan (Bare Hands)
(Fixing choreography/ guided rehearsal)

Learning Intent:
At the end of the session, students are able to;
1. Applying the Basic steps in the creation of dances
2. Apply feedback given through the creative process from teacher to
refine Midterm performance
NOTE: This lesson focuses on the Midterm performance. In small groups, students
perform the (Tai Chi Chuan) for rehearsal and polishing their choreography applying
performance skills taught in the class.

Session flow (in-class)

I. Priming Activity (Context) – 10 minutes

The teacher will instruct the students to be with their respective groups and
Review the fundamental forms of Tai Chi Chuan (Bare Hands)
1) What are the 8 Eight basic Forms of Tai Chi Chuan ?

II. Activity (Experience) – 15 minutes

1. Each group will be given 15 minutes to start plotting their


choreography and finalizing the routines to be performed during the
midterm performance examination.
2. Group leaders will be given the responsibilities to look over for his/her
members.
3. Unity and Collaboration among of group members will be observed.

III. Analysis – 10 minutes

1. How did find the activity?


2. Did you execute the routines accurately?

IV. Abstraction – 20 minutes

V. Application – 25 minutes
 The teacher will share his opinions, and suggestions about the group
presentations with a focus on how the dance have evolved throughout the process
of creation.
 Students perform the fundamental forms of Tai Chi Chuan (Bare hands) with
their own staging and choreography for the teacher will check, guide, provide
feedback during the compositional process as needed.

VI. Reflection/Action (can happen anytime during the experience and application)

 Provide adequate time for groups to implement the suggestions given by the
teacher and students in the performance (in class the scheduled meeting).
