INNOVATION MANAGEMENT SUMMARY
Innovation management is an idea, practice or object that is perceived as new by an
individual or other unit of adoption. It is use of new knowledge to offer a new product or service that customers want. Anent hereto, innovation is the search for and the discovery, developed, improvement, adoption and commercialization of new processes, new products and new organization structures and procedures. Innovation has also different characteristics such as; an object or target which is being changed, it can be product, a process, an individual’s lifestyle, an organization’s strategy or a society culture. Innovation vary in extent or magnitude. It is closely related to problem solving since generation and implementation of ideas for change never transpire without difficulty. A final characteristic is the impact of the change, the significance or range its effects. In Department of Education, innovation also occurred in this pandemic season. The organization innovated different strategies to ensure that learning continues despite of pandemic. Innovated computers, laptops, televisions, radios and mobile phones were the tools used in passing and circulating the learning of the students. Innovation is somehow different from invention. Invention is creation of new product and for service and process. It may not be commercialized and it can be autonomous. It can be economic or non – economic motive. It may bring few changes in organization and precedes innovation. On the other hand, innovation is the introduction of new product, service or process into the marketplace. The results may lead into commercialization and has economic motive. It brings organizational changes and succeeds inventions. Some people sometimes ask why we have to innovate. Since our world is a rapidly changing economy, people must understand, learn and innovate to survive the changes in this economy. Organization prepare themselves to innovate on a continuing basis. Indeed, innovation is about planning and controlling systems with high degree of flexibility. Respect for individual initiative and personal growth and tolerance for mistakes and following room for failure.
